"Snatch". You'd think the ECB have men in black vans prowling the cricket clubs of Dublin.

Not that a few Irish players have taken their opportunity to play the game they love, or anything.

That's a really worrying statement Howe..

Imagine if BCCI decides to open up it's national team to foreigners? I am sure quite a few brilliant talents would opt for the financial riches ahead of national commitments. I am not judging it is right or wrong, but its detrimental to the nation-based competition that is cricket predominantly.

It would become like any other club tournament around.

That would be amazing, young Irish cricketers being shanghaied from Dublin pubs into a life of toil in county cricket, where they dream of one day making it into the England setup, where they can return to their motherland for the very occasional, and inevitably washed out match in an empty cricket ground...

Don't blame Irish players for playing for England given the chance, just don't think they should be allowed to be given the chance. They should stick around and get test status for Ireland.

Foreigners?!??!?!?

Oh noooooooeees

More seriously, if you can't see the difference between playing for the country in which you live for years, ply your trade and gives the only route to the top level and playing for a club, we're done with this conversation.

I love it! I can't wait for Wayne Parnell to host a Mumbai press conference saying how he feels as Indian as anyone else, before bursting into an impromptu song and dance flanked by two coolies, because of course that's what Indians do :) .

Yeah. A West Indian playing for India is a laughable idea.

Absolutely.I like England's decision to play Ireland XI in county matches. But that doesn't mean that they should grab their players & ask them to play for England, for a better cricket career.Instead, they should help them in gaining test status.
I don't think Irish players should play in county teams.Instead there should be a full strength Ireland XI playing in the county circuit, including the FC games.

Robin was Indian origin. And he is an exceptional case.We don't have 3/4th of the lineup having double passports.
The Indian origin part is irrelevant, that's basically like an England fan saying it's ok that Trott plays for England because he's white.

It's quite clear that neither of you are aware as to how closely Irish cricket is linked to the county system, how the game is progressing or what has been done lately to improve the Irish national side - such as its withdrawal from the CB40 competition.

The issue is also further complicated by European Union eligibility laws to work here, and Ireland's own status within the ICC. I'm not going to debate this any further.
