2nd Test vs Pakistan
Going into the second Test of Pakistan's three-test tour, CW made two changes. Corrin replaced Hing and VVS Noble (in the midst of a domestic season where he had taken 45 wickets at 20) replaced SS Dong. Once again Pakistan won the toss and batted.
Things started badly for the home side as only two wickets arrived in the first two session, Pakistan racking up over 200 runs for two down by tea. Taufeeq Umar and Mohammed Yousuf doing the damage with hundreds.
However, things turned back to CW's liking in the evening as Capone fought back. Once Dean had removed Inzamam, Capone snared four more wickets to complete successive five-fors, finishing the day with the wicket of Younis. Winne had also bowled Anjum, meaning that Pakistan closed what should have been a successful day on 331/8.
Capone was not done, however, and finished off the innings himself on the second morning, claiming his best ever figures with 7-70. The CW reply began emphatically, with Heads and Narang compiling their 135-run opening partnership. Both were back in the hutch in quick succession, as Heads was run out the first ball after Narang edged behind, but Ballich and Riley - after a positive 41 from Spark - saw CW to the close in control on 281/3.
The control was short-lived as a flurry of wickets fell on third morning. Saqlain ran riot with seven wickets as the home side collapsed, and had to settle for their paltry lead of 22.
Soon, however, the collapse seemed like a minor inconvenience as the wickets continued to tumble. Winne did the earl damage from first change, picking up Pakistan's top three before the tea break as the tourists went to the break at 50/3.
That just left the door open for Dean to spin his way through the order, collecting five wickets as Pakistan folded. When Corrin took out the last two in successive balls, CW had all but won. 82 all out was the score and 61 the target - which CW's openers knocked off with ease.
CW won by 10 wickets
