3rd ODI vs India
CW brought in Ikram and Howe for REMOVED and Phlegm for the final, deciding ODI. CW chose to bat first.
Dharan was asked to open the innings and while him and Spark laid a solid base with fifties, the middle order failed to accelerate. Riley (3 off 13), Ikram (9 off 31) and Winne (22* off 42) were the main culprits and the away side, batting on an increasing spin-friendly wicket, were bogged down by the Indian spin attack. CW were restricted to 198/6.
India reached 63/0 at a healthy rate before the visitors brought on their own spinners. It wasn't lost before Corrin had both openers bowled, and Kambli completed his poor series with a simple catch back to the bowler off Hing. India had reached 88/3 in the 18th.
The left-arm spinner proved expensive after that, but Corrin and Ikram kept the Indians under the cosh throughout the middle overs. Corrin got the big wicket of Tendulkar, while Ikram made up for his poor batting display with a spell of 8-3-12-3 to get through the lower-middle. India laboured their way to 171/7 after 43 overs, but only requiring 28 to win.
Deshpande was still there for the home side, and it became clear his wicket was required when he hit 10 off Corrin's final over. Capone responded with a maiden over, meaning India had to hit 10 from the last three, which then became 5 from the last two.
The left-armer picked up the eighth wicket with the first ball of his last over, a yorker to get through the defences of Gagandeep Singh. Bhandari was next, and his first ball got a leading edge straight back to the bowler. India needed five from ten balls, but suddenly with one wicket remaining. Shiv Paul came in, aiming to get Deshpande back on strike, but his first ball was missed.
Capone's fourth ball clattered into the stumps. He'd taken the thriller of a match in four balls.
CW won by 4 runs and won the series 2-1
