Damn ECB.
Damn ECB.
but any vote involved in 2015-2016 they will again allow the associates back
Yeah, me too. Really looking forward to it now.I wonder what grounds they will stick these games at. Living in Sydney, I'd like to be able to see some of the more colourful teams play...
FIFA?This.
ICC making FIFA look like a model of sobriety imo.
Afghanistan somehow failed to manage to qualify this time(qualifiying even was held on pitches not suited to them IIRC) ,but they are probably better than Canada and maybe Kenya too.Another classic case of shooting yourself in the foot from ICC
14 is a tad too much. 12 would have made better sense. We are still going to see some lopsided games involving Kenya and Canada. How does that really help them improve? if they are going to be shot out for 70's and get massacred in less than 20 overs.
Added to that ICC missed the trick. They should have had qualifiers and not this. BD,WI and ZIM don't have the right to go play without playing qualifiers. Now we are going to see a bloated pool phase without a direction.
Sigh!!!
But the sad part is that they have reduced the T20 WC to 12 nations from 16 nations. It is like Ego. ICC had been forced to go back on decision on 10 nations and now they had to take the revenge somewhere. How the hell does a 12 or 16 nation T20 WC affect them. Afterall it is such a short tournament and should have been the driver to include more countries and spread the game
Well I think you're pretty much spot on there but I'm not too upset about 14 teams for 2015, at least Ireland, Holland, Afghanistan and Kenya have a very good chance to get involved...Agree. These decisions make no sense. Just keep WC's at 10-12 team with qualification process so likes or Ireland and Afghanistan get a fair chance if BD or Zimb are lesser skilled.
Keep World T20 at 16 teams as there's more chance for an upset.

Have you seen the Canadian Team? How many Canadians are there?Sigh.
The point of the World Cup is that it's a world event. Offering 2 qualifying places for the 80 or so nations below Full Member status is a joke.
The point in having teams like Kenya and Canada isn't necessarily about improving them here and now, it's about raising the profile of the game in the country for the future. You can't inspire people from Canada, Ireland etc to play the game if you don't give them a shot at featuring at the biggest tournament.
The 'quality games' argument holds equally true for football. In terms of quality there's no point in having a World Cup of more than 8 teams - 6 from Western Europe and Argentina and Brazil. I'm fairly sure aby football fan who seriously suggested that would be laughed at. The same applies to cricket fans who make equally elitist arguments.
What's your point mate? Apart from the Ireland games, All other minnows were plain worthless. FFS, Even Bangladesh was worthless..Speaking of "Quality games", doesn't everyone remember how awesome a match Australia vs New Zealand was at the World Cup?
I'm so happy I watched that rather than some predictable tripe like England vs Ireland.
Strongly disagree. RTD's innings against England was phenomenal, and Hiral Patel's onslaught against Australia was fantastic as well - both rate among my highlights of the tournament. What's your point mate? Apart from the Ireland games, All other minnows were plain worthless.
