2015 World Cup: 10 teams and no associates

I agree, the West Indies have got no chance. And South Africa just clog up the semi-finals. May as well leave them out, right?

Good to hear associates are back.

Not so pleased to hear that there are 14 teams - reckon it should have been 12, by and large only 2 associates tend to be competitive, the others just take up space. Reckon a qualifying tournament between Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Ireland, the Dutch etc would have been good to fight out for either a top 10 or 12 format. 14 seems overkill.

Ugh, it really grinds my gears that the only two options for number of teams that have ever been considered are either 10 or 14.

12 teams would've been ideal. With two fewer teams and a tighter schedule you could comfortably squeeze the length of the tournament down to 5 weeks. Now we're gonna have to sit through another 12 pointless matches and another horrifically bloated pool phase at the next World Cup which will only serve to start off this whole annoying debate all over again.

Yeah, what makes the opening stages dull is massive groups leading to irrelevant matches, not who's competing.

15 team's
3 group of 5 ....2 qualify from each.... 1 group of 6 ...4 qualify for semi would be better i think

total games will be 48,,,last world cup had 49 games

This.

ICC making FIFA look like a model of sobriety imo.

Good news. I give myself the credit for this move after threatening the ECB to withdraw my support of England if they didn't sort it.
