It was a non-story really, of course either side "can" win 4-0. It's just a deliberately provoking sounding question that really just asks someone if their team can win matches. I remember Ponting getting similar stuff just before the Ashes.

Incidentally, I found out today that England vs India at Lord's will be the 2000th Test match.

Strauss is going to play for Somerset against India, otherwise he'd only have one CC match before the series. Good news. :)

Oh right that's pretty good of them :)

Quite unusual though, no?
Can't remember them doing something like this before.

Be pretty hacked off if you were the opposition, mind.

"Well, yeah, I know it's a championship game and we need the points, but the ECB say the England captain should be playing a game, so he''ll be opening for them."

Edit: My mistake, it's a tour game. Never mind.

Haha True.

Ironically,South Africa were beaten on the most seaming track of the series.

Were not going to get one at HQ but Edgbaston and Trent Bridge, are always usually very good bowling pitches, that produce exciting games. The Oval can be a fast bouncy track but it also can be a very good batting wicket. IMO we'll get the usual kind of wickets, these pitches are known for and with games going on all the time it will be hard, to change a pitches characteristics just like that.

International Coach
ideally England should look for spinning mine filed with the way our spinners have been bowling in last test they wont be threat at all where as swann will get all 20 wicket LBW :)

as for a seaming wicket the trouble is that sresanth, praveen, ishant, munaf (who ever plays) will become more of a factor where as an ideal test pitch will all have them all easily below the std of England bowlers

England's generally quite a good place to bowl spin

Yeah, certainly is. I think the dearth of spinners we had before Swann (or Panesar, whatever) kinda throws people off.

If Zaheer is fit, I'd be very very happy with a fast bowler friendly track.

In any case, regardless of what it is, I hope most of the Tests end in results. As long as that's the case, I wouldn't mind any type of wicket.
