Apart from Strauss captaining a winning team, there may be a greater consistency about Strauss's scores, whereas KP's figures are massively boosted by that one double-hundred. Also, KP's poor form goes back longer than 12 months, so there's been a growing awareness of hims diminishing returns for a while now.

Even over 2 years KP averages 41 and Strauss 40.

Yeh. You don't outpace England batsmen, unfortunately, unless you start approaching 95mph. Gotta try to extract some movement or pry something with the slower ball. You can feel the momentum slipping from Sri Lanka with each over.

Agreed (though he did want rid of Flower too...). It's just that I wonder where his head is that he keeps going on about it.

These two have done pretty well to avoid the total disaster, though the bowling has been just good rather than excellent. Given that they were put in to bat on what turned out to be quite a lively track, another 30 without loss will see them back to even.
