'Official' Pakistan in West Indies

I like that. But I prefer "law of averages". To get one right after predicting a win every single time. :p
haha.........so agree with you

This innings reminds me of the recent past pak line up....

Taufeeq, Butt, Afridi, Nazir, Hameed, Farhat and all the other useless test top order batsman we've had would fail.... Leaving Younis, MoYo and Inzi to come and save the day!

We have such a great history of our top 3 providing us with zilch runs in a total...if we lose this by 30 runs I am going to... Infact I'm going to do nothing as I'm too used 2 it happening :)
Good observation indeed.

Haha, Definitely worth putting a few on the WI winning.
That is better than putting money on Pakistan. At least the WI are slightly more predictable.

I'm becoming more convinced that two tiers for test Cricket is the way to go. NZ vs Pak and this test match have been a lot more closer due to teams being evenly matched and I kinda feel this is the way forward.

Close game on a crap surface but the standard of cricket is toilet. Fancy Pak to take this, all their remaining guys can hold a bat, even Gul and Riaz are good for 15+ runs. The drop by Bravo was key, Pak would have been all out for 30 if he held that going by how well Rampaul was bowling.

Heard Rampauls bowling really and at some good pace too. Must try to catch the replays domewhere...

Such a poor drop as well. Momentum was all Windies way until he dropped that sitter

Do you guys reckon it's the pitch making Rampaul look this good or did he turn into a good bowler over night? He's bowling with a lot of gas and consistently hitting the right areas.

Yup, you can say that again. Though I guess Bishoo, Ajmal and Rampaul may be excepted.

Though a whole lot of people are already calling it a 'great test match'. The appellation great is one that is loosely bandied about these days. So if 'great' can mean 'merely good', or 'competent' or even 'just about acceptable' (and myriad other things; to discover what they are, just listen to an IPL commentator), why can't it mean 'closely contested' or 'one where it is difficult to predict the result'. As in: step on a great banana peel.

Anyone's game with WI holding an edge IMHO. Early wickets are the key; a couple of them and WI will firmly be in the box seat.

I think he has bowled very well. Exploited the pitch better than any of the Pakistan quicks; though they were piss poor tbh.

Turning into a good bowler overnight? I'm not too sure of that; I've seen him bowl an occasional good spell in the past too. Will wait to see if he can repeat this on a fairly consistent basis.

Well, I've thoroughly enjoyed it for one. A five-day match where you're no closer to knowing the end result after three days = win. Some crap batting yes, but whatever.

I think "great" is being used in a different context - the "this is really good" context as opposed to "all-time-great" context.

Whatever it takes!!!

"Great" as in a great contest, does not necessarily mean the cricket is of a great standard at all...

cricket has been decent not too bad actually.3 90+ fast bowlers , 2 high quality spinners batting has been poor but a lot if it can be attributed to the pitch conditions this is a substandard pitch and I hope WICB put an inquiry on Guyana cricket board worst test pitch since Mumbai 2004.

As for the match situation these has to put on atleast another 50 more runs WI still with a massive advantage mainly due to the conditions and Pakistan's frailty as a chasing side.

Yeah, I can see that shade of meaning.

Though not exactly "Great" as in a great contest (one that is well-contested), but great as in: "Would you like to have a cup of coffee?" "Yes, that would be great!"

lol at whinging about the pitch because it has some life in it. No wonder there have been so many batting paradises throughout the 2000s. As soon as there's some difficulty for the batsmen everyone is up in arms. God forbid they may struggle for runs

Dont think this pitch is as bad as it has been made out to be, however there are still a lot of questions to be asked about a pitch that makes Bishoo look like a world beater.

I have no issues if its a pitch with grass but a pitch that starts helping the spin from 2nd session of day 1 and has inconsistent bounce with so much regularity then I am afraid its not test standard it provides compelling viewing but it heavily shift the balance towards the bowler this pitch is as bad for cricket as a 600 plays 650 track.

There's been some assistance for spin but the batting has been pretty pathetic. If the number 11 can score 24 runs I don't see the problem
