*Official* English Football Season 2010-11

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Facebook feed is full of 'bring on number 19' etc

Certainly has given smiles back to Liverpool fans. I expect top 4 from them next season.

Also, I cbf to link it from my phone, but apparently Bayern Munich are after my boy Dale Jennings.

Yes, indeed they are.

However, the way they have played at the season's arse-end is actually a decent cause for optimism, as is the permanent appointment of a man who enjoyed great success in his previous spell.

I'm not sure how accurate this is but I'm told only Man U have got more points than them since Dalglish took charge.

Certainly think it will be an interesting battle for a CL place next season, and probably title race.

Dalglish is one of the few managers around who actually has the experience of winning a league title as well.

Eyes not spreadsheets
It's only Chelsea who've got more points. They've also scored more than anyone and kept more clean sheets (only Chelsea have conceded fewer)

Right, the guy who told me said stat said Chelsea then changed to Man U

Replicating it over a whole season is of course a tougher task, but taking their late-season form with a pinch of salt would be a mistake.

I think Ferguson has a lot of respect for Dalglish anyhow, he won't take him lightly.

Not sure what Furball thinks of him though...

Real Madrid tv Video showed him allegedly calling Marcelo some racial terms.

Surprising that UEFA are charging a Barca player.Must be hard evidence.

As GIMH/Marc have pointed out, there are lot of things to be happy and optomistic about. But, really, what Dalglish has done has been amazing. He took a side only a handful of points away from the relegation zone and playing trash to title-winning kind of form, almost overnight. Long live the King!

His real test will come next season though.
When he took over there ,with the position they were in, there was really only one way where there form could head with the quality in the team.
Yes the record since then has been impressive to say the least but the other teams form has not been too great.
The decision of Chelsea to pay 50 million for Torres at that stage helped a lot ,with the replacements they got well seemingly quality.

But at the same time, Remember Liverpool in the previous few years too ,have had a history of form improving towards the end after a poor middle part of the season.

Next year will be tougher to break into the top 4 ,let alone challenge for the title as- City will strengthen and spend a lot of money ,Chelsea will look to get some younger players in, United will probably strenghten as well in crucial areas and the youngsters will mature.
Arsenal nobody can tell for sure with Wenger ,but " their kids will get a year older ™ " and with the money Fabregas brings in and with new owners they might strengthen their Midfield ,Defense and GK positions.

Tottenham are the wild card and this summer will be vital for them. If they retain all their players and add a bit of quality then they could also become a challenger to the top 4 ,but if they lose one or two of their key players which they pretty well could, then they will most probably return to mid table mediocrity.

There are reports that Liverpool new owners will make something like 70 million pounds available in the summer. If so they will need to spend it really wisely to improve next season and tighten some clear weaknesses in their side.

Not condoning it but Lennon's antics have riled some people up. No excuse for attacking him though. Just stupid.
Not only that attack He's been sent bombs, and today a bullet, attacked on the sideline, beaten on the street, etc. on and on, it seems.

Im not his biggest fan by any stretch, but what is happening to Lennon at the minute is shameful and an absolute disgrace.

Yes, he is a bit aggravating, but he surely doesnt deserve what he is getting based on his religion.

Scottish football needs to have a long look at itself and sort this **** out.

And this is not only for the statements he has made on referees.

True, but the reason they're usually optimistic is because they normally do well at the season's arse-end.

You'd be an idiot to write them off totally out of anything, and that includes winning the league, but it really is a long shot and everyone has heard all this before about 10 times over.

They've definitely got a very realistic chance of finishing in the top 4, that'll be an interesting race, because it's difficult to see which of the current top 4 would drop out. As for the 'this is our year' cries though, I'm not any more worried than I was back when they were saying that each and every summer from 05 to 09 under Benitez.
