There was some talk of this kid last year but I've got to admit, I'm a bit surprised they've called him up, meant to be a great little glove man.

Talked yesterday about the lack of three figured scores around by the batsmen, today they put that right, and in Middlesex's case, two substantial innings have put them in a very strong position against Surrey at Lords. Having been reduced to 88-4, captain Neil Dexter and young keeper John Simpson then compiled an imposing 254 run partnership for the fifth wicket and break the resolve of the Surrey attack. A bowling unit consisting of Dernback, Arafat, Linley, Jordan, Batty and the part-time offerings of Hamilton-Brown is not to be taken lightly, although the extra pace of Stuart Meaker seems to have left a hole.
When you're in, make it count, top of the table Middlesex are in an excellent position at 368-5 to push on tomorrow, Dexter may have been dismissed for 145, but Simpson's still going strong on 126 not out.
Gareth Cross has also helped give Lancs a very good chance of victory following his century at Hove with a personal best 125. Horton, Brown and Procter all got close, but couldn't quite make it to three figures, and Cross is no doubt making up for lost time this season following the last couple of seasons in the 2nd XI with Luke Sutton holding down the keepers spot in the CC.

Was at Lords today, was a good days play on the whole. Dexter in particular was excellent, Surrey pretty toothless on what looks a pretty good pitch once him and Simpson got going. Dernbach was pretty good though, definetly the best of the bowlers in the afternoon and evenning sessions, was very hard done by not to get a wicket.
Hampshire middle order continie to be bloody pathetic after Dawson and Adams give us a good start, need to sort themselves out or its another year of fighting relegation.

I think that's a bit harsh, given his age and stature. Regardless of technique etc, he may well just not be big enough to actually get any runs!
Google finds this video which does at least look serviceable. Batted 9 for Yorks U15 last year - will be aiming higher this time around I am sure.

Stumped...wasn't listening at the time but seems an interesting way to go when you are batting to save the game. Much better morning for us, if we get Joyce soon I think we are a good chance of a victory.
