David Masters takes the first wicket of the day around the country trapping Gareth Rees LBW. Good breakthorugh for Essex.

Good first hour for Lancs, probably put the mockers on but 50 opening stand at 4 an over not to be sniffed at. We've score decent runs so far this year but been too slow to get full batting points in both games (i think we've not managed 350 in the overs yet). Need to score big first up an hope the pitch does something later on, the forecast isn't great for later in the week.

Our batting is pretty deep today as well with Chapple at 9 and Mahmood at 10

Yes excellent start for Lancs, 115-0 at lunch with Horton taking the lead. All the Sussex pacemen going at four an over or worse, while only Monty Panesar seems to be giving captain Murray Goodwin any semblance of control.

Three wickets in the morning session for Essex is not a bad return. Predictably two of them from the accurate medium pace of David Masters, while Tsotsobe got the wicket of Mike Powell for a much more economical return than his debut, so far.

How come Andre Adams has only played 1 test for NZ?

His stats are pretty damn good and already has 15 wickets in 2 an a bit games this season!!

Andre Adams has struck after lunch for Notts to reduce Worcester to 101-4, and in the process taking his wicket tally to three for this game. Daryl Mitchell was keeping Notts at bay with Alexei Kervezee who is currently 30 not out. Another big Adams haul a real possibility here.

35.5 overs bowled by Sussex and only 2 by a white man - disgraceful

Just looking at the career stats of Andre Adams - very impressive indeed and a very good performance in his sole Test as well. A talent not fulfilled maybe.

Yes he's a very decent bowler, arguably one that has got better and better the more experienced he has got. He's also just removed the dangerous Kervezee for his fourth wicket of the innings.

Graham Onions has his first wicket of the game against Warwickshire, not a bad victim either, Mohammad Yousuf, for 25.

Azhar Mahmood has struck twice after lunch, reducing Glos to 119-2 after a 110 run opening stand.

The 22 year old from Oldham and the 22 year old from Bolton have now put on 50 for Lancs 6th wicket. Encouraging stuff for Lancs members I guess.

Shame we have lost a couple of wickets to close but a decent first day, still plenty of chance for more runs with Chapple at 10 now and Mahmood at 11
