English Domestic Season 2011

Yeah, the Dutch did it again, pretty rubbish attack from Derby with "the one and only" opening the bowling. Wonder if they were resting the likes of Clare, Groenweld and Pallidino, or if they were injured. Deserved to lose if it was complacency, particularly after the Yorkie result.

I'm fascinated why Holland pick Heggelman in the side. Specialist number 10?

Pissed off as I am that Yorkshire lost, I do love the Dutch telling the ECB where to stuff themselves like this.

Not quite sure what you are implying but if its about the world cup decision, I'm not sure they will be losing too much sleep over the performances ofa few Aussie grade cricketers

I thought you were talking about Yorkshire for a moment, and I suppose you might well still be, but Worcs have certainly very quickly lost what looked like a very strong position
Haha, I found what Yorks did against Notts pretty comical but knew it was best to keep my mouth shut as I know Worcs are more than capable of matching it.

TBF the majority of the Dutch runs were scored by Dutch-qualified players, albeit ones with South African & New Zealand birthplaces.

I know it's not going to matter much coming from the CB40 side, but it's satisfying nonetheless.

Shows you how bad Derbyshire are when you question the absence of Tony Pallidino.

Taylor really does seem the real deal, great temperament and has a very sub continent batting style, uses his feet well and is very wristy, he's great at manipulating the field.
England have got to get him in the side, in the 50 over stuff this year at some point.
Can't argue with the runs he is scoring/has scored but I really don't enjoy watching him bat. Not seen him since 2009 but has he grown since then? Was about 5'5 (max) back then.

Slightly harsh on Palladino, certainly after the start and the impression he has made at Derby at the start of this season. Has formed a useful new ball partnership with Tim Groenewald so far.

Lancs have won the toss at Hove, looks another gloriously clear day down there, and are going to have a bat. Luke Procter has come into the side for the injured Tom Smith. Luke Wright returns for Sussex.

Warwickshire won the toss at a cloudy looking Riverside, and are also having a bat, Durham captain Dale Benkenstein not too disgruntled as he suggested Durham would have bowled first anyway. Phil Mustard had a reaction to his foot problem following their recent one-day game so doesn't play. Good to see Graham Onions back in the side at the expense of Mitch Claydon. For Warks Tim Ambrose is fit again and Paul Best makes his debut in place of the injured Ant Botha.

Essex have won the toss and will field against Glamorgan at Chelsmford. Reece Topley is unfortunately back at school, so Maurice Chambers replaces him, hopefully overseas seamer Lonwabo Tsotsobe improves after his last outing. Glamorgan have batsman Ben Wright back in the side, he'll be confident following his vital contributions made in the game against Gloucester.

How serious is Tom Smith's injury?

After his start to the season it will be a hell of a blow if he is going to be out for very long

Not too sure how serious it is, I know he was due to have a scan on the offending area, and presumably there is sufficient evidence from the scan to rule him out today. Hopefully they are opting to omit him as a safety measure rather than anything more sinister.

Worcester off to a bit of a flyer at Notts, Luke Fletcher having some early tap inflicted upon him, his first 15 balls have disappeared for 23 runs.

Can somebody please explain to me why Darren Stevens is opening the bowling for Kent?
The first thought would be a lack of options, but they do have Robbie Joseph and Simon Cook waiting in the wings for a chuck. However, as far as I can see, Stevens uses the new ball effectively in the right conditions, he gets enough movement to have opening batsmen second guess their movements and judgements, gets them playing at the majority of deliveries and doesn't waste the new ball. The key I think is that the conditions must be right, if there is a hint of movement off the pitch or through the air he can be useful, not sure he should be the long term option but he has enjoyed some success in this role so far.
