Tait is having a real dirty day.

I cannot recall one delivery that was unplayable from him today. He will on average deliver five or six per match that no batsman is good enough to play. Today nothing, just the poor side of Tait.

Ah, Burgey in 'labelling an opinion differing to his own as stupid' shock.
The second point would be relevant if we were discussing this incident alone and not the matter of send offs in their entirety.

Oh and just seen the edit, how on earth do I think that I'm commenting in 'a sage-like manner'?
It's plainly relevant as you well know.

And you post two pictures you consider fine. So where do we draw the line?

Not making a gesture to a batsman after getting them out? Not making any gesture that may be considered provocative? Flintoff's **** hesture on his knees in front kf a batsman as he stares at him - how do you construe that? Is that a send off? Not to you or me, to someone else it may well be.

Not saying anything to the batsman? Not saying anything about the batsman to team mates within ear shot? You are talking about making a decision about something as important as revoking the taking of a wicket, on a moment's notice, based upon what presumably the onfield umpires see, before the next bloke gets to the wicket.

As a matter of practicality, it can't and won't work. And that's why it's stupid.

I'm sorry I had to spell it out to you. Though not surprised.

Edit: the first thing you'll learn at law school, is questions asked about what others are thinking are inadmissible, as one can't know what is going on in another's mind. But in your case, you always think you're being sage like :)

These two not making the pitch look half as awkward to bat on as the entire Australian line-up did. It's never going to be the type of pitch where timing comes easy and fluent strokeplay is present throughout. Still no look at Krejza yet.

pak still need 105 runs with 8 wickets to go.....Aus need to get Yk and Misbah quickly........if they do they can wrap up the match here

Crayfish on the money first up.

That big off-break first up placed a huge amount of doubt in the batsman's mind for every delivery that followed. Great bowling, and some attacking captaincy could assist him in finding a wicket.

Well this is a completely different argument to your initial one which was simply that the punishment was too harsh for something that you didn't feel was a crime. That was where our disagreement lay.
Practicality could be tricky and no rule is ever going to satisfy everyone, just look at UDRS. I think it's plainly obvious that something as crude is giving the batsman the finger is entirely different from anything you've listed above.
Celebrate the wicket by all means, that's something we all like to see (unless the dismissed batsman is playing for your team of course) but flipping a batsman the Vs is just pointless, unnecessary and unwanted IMO.

Good start from Crayfish, but I just don't get a real sense that one wicket will spark much of a collapse or anything like it tonight. Pakistan doing it well on a tricky pitch tbh.

Yeah... great over from Krezja, but how exactly is he gonna take a wicket..?

He has no slip or close-in fielder, so no matter how well he bowls chances of him picking a wicket with that sort of field are very slim.

That's my major problem with him/his handling

People go on about how he gives the ball a rip, etc but how the **** is he going to get anyone out unless they gift it to him?

Better off playing Hastings, Hopes, etc etc etc unless they actually decide to support him

Short leg needed. Need to keep them off the front-foot if the ball is turning for Crayfish.

Get the feeling Ponting is waiting for a wicket. It is not going to happen with this field against these two batsman you feel.

I hope Pakistan don't mess up from here. Need 93 runs with 8 wickets in hand.

In test matches at least I have seen Pakistan lose from more comfortable positions
