haha, hope this bit isn't true;

The eight city-based franchises have been encouraged by Cricket Australia's marketing department to choose "urban grit" American-style names and banned from using state colours.
Concerned for Howardj's welfare.

Kids are like anyone - they want quality.

Dressing up the same domestic players in kool kolors and givin' 'em groovy names won't do ****.

The same marketing department that thought split innings cricket would bring the crowds in

aarrrggghhh!!!!!

To be honest, this is the first time I'd heard they were banned from using state colours.

Sucks in terms of promotions for the Adelaide team considering our state flower is the Sturt Desert Pea and Adelaide's DCC colours are along the same lines so makes me wonder what colours would be appropriate for Adelaide and useful for marketing.

Why would they do that?

It's like the marketing types think that if a young punk rolls up to a Brisbane Heat game and sees them dressed in maroon, they'll think:

"Ah huh! I've seen that maroon colour before; this is really just a Qld team - it's not The Heat. I'm out of here".

Necessary evil. Going to be a lot more footy played on AO in the coming years.

Besides, maybe we'll have some sporting decks for a change (doubt it, though).

Will never happen. We've had the wettest summer in yeeers and still, though all that, had some massive scores this season.

Lehmann's a genius, QLD is pretty likely to improve under him and, from what I've heard, he's particularly good when he has some nascent talent to work with.

p.s victoria what the ****?
Well Queensland won the toss and bowled so there must be something in the wicket. Barring Rogers all the batsmen out range from somewhat to extremely inexperienced, too. Plus Feldman is a good bowler. I don't think it's that outrageous.

What does nascent mean?

Who is this Bills guy bowling for new south?
Nicholas Bills is a young quick from Norths. He's been immense in grade cricket this season; I'm stoked to see him selected ahead of Coyte tbh. I think he's only 19 or 20. I've never seen him bowl tbh so I can't give you any more than that. :p
