Can Tendulkar get 100 international hundreds?

The Ireland and Netherlands matches will be crucial in terms of getting to 50 tons or not.

More than the stat, I am making sure I watch Sachin's last few remaining knocks in ODI games. There is no reason for him to play anymore 50 over cricket after this tournament. We all will miss him big time.
That will be one permanent, definitive break from my childhood/teen days. So it will be for millions of others

He should do it easily from where he is now. What is it? 98 tons or something now. Insane numbers from a great player.

I wonder if he'll stick around after the WC in ODIs to get the 50th ODI century, if he doesn't get there.

I think unless his plan is to retire from all formats after the WC regardless of the stats, he should certainly get there, probably sometime during the English tour.

I think the man is really hungry. I don't see a trace of giving up in him.

IMO, he will go until he physically can no longer play. Obviously that is arbitrary for each person but his bar is probably really high.

From a perspective of winning, I don't see a reason why he should quit. He is one of the top batsman in the world and I think the world (outside of India) still enjoys watching him.

I think Sachin should retire after this WC.I'll probably lose a bit of respect for him if he doesn't,since the only driving force would be personal ambition i.e. number of 100s,number of runs etc.The man has beaten every batting record known to man,and is arguably the most complete Batsman the world has known. For someone with so much class, continuing to play after the WC for personal goals just seems a bit shallow. And i'm probably not even phrasing this correclty since i like him as a player and saying something like this feels odd.But just my two cents.

Retiring after this WC would be much more graceful than retiring after a regular ODI/Test series. It would give him the perfect sending off - Biggest stage of them all,In his home country.

He can continue to play till someone who is better than him is kept out of the team because of him. Currently I don't think that's the case. If personal ambitions can keep him up and running with the best of the world, I don't know how that can be not beneficial to the team as well.

He seems to fancy a bit of off-spin in Bangalore, he hit Hauritz for 3 or 4 sixes in the Test last year and now Swann got the treatment.

Or you know... helping the Indian side considering he's still one of your best batsman in both formats

The 'Your' in your sentence would have been valid. The year 1947 had other ideas though.

I wouldn't be surprised to still have him around for another two years at least. He's not going anywhere that isn't by his own decision, and who knows when that will come.

I don't get the logic that some people have - If an old player has a bad series, retire to make way for others. If an old player has an average series, he has lost his 'touch' and should retire. If an old player has an excellent series, he should retire on a high.

How about we just let the man play till hes no longer useful to the team?
