Great to see Hughes getting some runs but the fact that he didn't ton up after getting a start shows that he still not near his best.

Though I'm really happy to see Blues finally opting for a Hughes-Warner opening combination, its still early days but somewhere down the line I can see these two opening the batting for Australia pretty much across all the three formats.

Warner might not have scored a lot of runs this season but still he seems to be making a genuine effort to break through from that T20 batsman mould, and I think he definitely has got all the tools to do well in the other formats as well.

Warner has been stating for years that he is focusing on improving his game in the longer-format. The problem is he wasn’t quite good enough when NSW gave him a good chance last season. I don't recall his dismissals in the past being the result of flamboyant strokes, it was more due to poor technique in handling line and length bowling.

Today might be a pivotal moment in his career.

Geez I hope Jaques can go on and make a ton. Seems like forever since he's been in form.

I think it must be a bit of a flat track though given the scorecard so far.

FMD Forrest. Any reason you aren't getting a move on?

Finally falls for 25... off 85. That's pretty... ****.

89th Over Mark Cleary replaces Damien Wright at the Members End.

Over 88.6: Siddle to Jaques, FOUR, unlucky for Siddle, a well directed short ball that finds the top edge of the bat and flies over first slip, all toil for no reward!

Over 88.5: Siddle to Jaques, FOUR, frustration for Siddle as Jaques this time picks up a boundary past second slip and to the rope

Over 88.4: Siddle to Rohrer, one run, DROPPED, another life for Rohrer, short outside off, cuts it in the air, Wright sticks out a hand at gully but puts it down, not easy but he needed to hold onto it, they pick up a single

Over 88.3: Siddle to Rohrer, no run, fullish length delivery outside off and he lets it go this time

Over 88.2: Siddle to Rohrer, no run, DROPPED, oh dear! pitched up outside off, nips away and draws the edge,a thick edge, Wade dives to his left and puts it down, he should have held onto it, Siddle is one unhappy camper!

Over 88.1: Siddle to Rohrer, no run, short ball bouncer and he is getting out of the way of it
Poor bloke.

Hazzah! I've always liked Jaques. I hope he can keep up this form.
I think Jaques has missed the boat as far as a test comeback is concerned and that's really sad because he had so much potential and in the end he can only curse his luck, because he barely put a foot wrong in the limited international opportunities he had and yet he was shown the door.

Wasn't he more seriously injured turning into a mere shadow of his former self than he was shown the door?

3/319. Siddle looks like the pick of the bowlers by far and away.
Tbh... its not the greatest of feats to be the pick of the bowlers when you are bowling along with likes of Cleary, Wright and Holland. Btw... why is Pattinson jr. not playing is he injured again..?

EDIT: What's up with Forrest?? He was considered by some as a test prospect in the making, but was/is he really that good..?

He was unlucky when he was dropped, as he wasn't going that poorly, it was just that Katich was going so well. Since then though he hasn't been able to put forward a case that said "Pick me".

Yeah, you can't really say he's been unfairly left out. Since his injury he's been a very very very dim shadow of his former self.
