Pretty good start to Nathan Lyon's first class career. North, Voges and Pomersbach in his first spell, day 1 at the WACA.
Stuff of dreams, really. Two Test batters and the top-scorer is brilliant. Good on him and good on the SACA selectors for picking him.

despite dismissing three international batsmen he actually didn't get any good batsmen out though. bloody wa bias...

Oh come on, are we really going to do this? A spinner taking the 3 best batters on day 1 of debut on the non-too-spin-friendly WACA is bloody decent no matter which way you swing it.

In all seriousness, it'll probably only take another 1-2 performaces like that for the remainder of this shield season to put Lyon on the plane to Sri Lanka

Whattaya wanna do, huh? Whattaya wanna do?

anyway....i'm fairly sure our bowlers for SL will be the same as the ones we used in Sydney. Hauritz may have got himself back in but now they'll use the shoulder to keep him out ("we don't think it's healed") so Beer will stay. Let's all just accept this right now so we don't get hurt later on

Given recent selection policy or lack thereof I don't think anyone can be 'fairly sure' of anything.

nah I'm fairly sure the selectors LOVE the Hilf-Siddle-MJ attack and seriously think it's the road to success. (2 wins out of 9 ashes matches together iirc...and both times there was an extra seamer) but yeah the spin slot anything could happen. But I think they'll stick with Beer (unless Krejza stars)
