Well, it depends what question the on-field umpires asked, doesn't it? For all we (the viewing public) know they could've asked the TMO something along the lines of "I thought he took that cleanly, is there any reason why I can't give it out?" In that case I suspect any doubt would go to Smith.

Yeah, like I said, I'm not saying Smith was trying it on, my argument was just against TH's suggestion there was no conceivable reason why a player would say they weren't sure if they knew they'd grounded it.

Johnson and Bollinger's bowling form is kind of worrying atm, Tait has been on the bench through the series so the make-up of the bowling line-up is a concern for the worldcup.
With two games left, Tait has to play in both of them and prove his fitness otherwise we are better off taking an all-rounder instead of him to the worldcup, as there doesn't seem to be any decent fast bowling replacements around.
Also what's with everyone jumping the gun whenever an Australian is involved in a dubious catch referral, in the test series Hughes was tagged as a 'cheat' by Botham and here people seem to be trying to say the same about Smith as well, in reality all they did was tell the umpire they weren't sure and it was completly upto the umpire whether to go to the 3rd umpire or not.

On a more serious note, think England and Australia are both suffering from Gilchrist syndrome because I can see no other reason for them to be so hell bent on turning their wicket-keepers into ultra-aggressive opening batsmen.
Prior and Haddin both are natural strokeplayers but its just silly to see the way they are batting at the top of the order atm, they both have probably been told to go hell for leather in the first 15 overs but don't think either of them are really players who can manufacture big shots and they are just looking terrible trying to do that.
Haddin in particular has a very impressive OD batting record for the Blues, but atm can't help but think his batting capabilities are going to waste as he is someone who should be looking to score big runs at the top of the order rather than being content with scoring quick 20's and 30's.

I mean it's strange. What precisely was he trying to achieve by walking across the stumps like so? Is it really getting worth getting two or three more runs but running a gigantic risk of losing your wicket, especially when the RR is fine? That more than anything put completely unnecessary pressure on the middle order, and forced them to completely shut up shop for an hour.

I mean it wasn't as if he was smashing the bowlers out of the park, he was 37 off 52 ffs.

Yep, agreed. No way should we have been 4/110-odd after 22-ish overs, that was just ridiculous.

Just watching the highlights, even though KP hasn't managed to go on in these Odi's and get a 100, he does look in good touch, probably the best in Odi's I've seen him in this last year.
Strauss has been finding all kinds of ways to get out, hopefully it's just this series because the past 18 months or so he has proved he's a very good Odi opener.
Morgan even though he's got some credit in the bank, the way he's got out in every match is something hard to understand, he seems to be picking the man out every time.I know sitting in the stands watching the Test matches for nearly 2 months won't have helped, but who knows.
The injuries problem has got way out of hand now, Shahzad added to the list. I wonder if they'd risk giving Broad a run out, It obviously isn't worth the risk but it's becoming the case of the last man standing.
That was some mighty fine tail end hitting by Finn and to some extent Jimmy, didn't know he had it him in. Woakes, 2nd best bowling figures in a ODi, by any team, well done him and he bowled very well.
