Yeah, personally i think its time to move on from the Mills/Tuffey/Arnel bunch and give the young guns some time against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. That's where Flem's Dougeh comes into it.
It's annoying because if any of those older guys with past international experience (add gillespie to the list) were to find some way of stepping up* just a little, like O'Brien did, they would be an automatic pick in this test squad. Instead, barring gillespie, they're all bowling at 125km/h and being generally very average.

At least gillespie has the excuse of injury.

* despise the expression 'step up' but am too lazy to think of anything else

Southee's looked a lot better than 6 wickets @ 41 this series IMO. It seems criiminal that Arnel actually has the better series average at this point.

Like others are saying, how come all our bowlers seem to bowl 125km now. Doesn't Scott Styris hit 120km and he's basically considered slow/medium.

Never understood it really how these fulltime physically fit and strong players can't get it consistently up around 140.

Obviously something I'm missing.

Come on, can we win a test please? I don't care if we lose, we suck anyway. Try Williamson if you haven't already.

WC squad but without Mills, Williamson and Woodcock.
Without Woodcock? Wtf?

Guess they will play:

McCullum
Guptill
Ryder
Taylor
Styris
Franklin
Oram
McCullum
Vettori
Southee
Bennett

Bowl. Williamson. Bowl. Williamson. God Vettori can be a strange captain sometimes.

You're ****ing joking right? Ryder to bowl off breaks?

Is Vettori afraid that Williamson might be more threatening than he has been himself?

Vettori can't win tests and is such a defensive captain. I rate him as an allrounder, and if Franklin fails at six then lock Vettori in there.

But the current structure of the bowling, when he is a strike bowling allrounder and our number one spinner, does not work. Add into the equation his defensive mindset, and he makes for one frustrating player at the moment.

People not realising Vettori's strengths and weaknesses are going to cost Arnel his test career, and possibly keep other spinners that aren't bloody Patel out of the side longer than they should be.

Really just shows how overrated Vettori is as a bowler, part timers are able to extract more spin. Mind you he's not as bad as Hauritz.
