*Official* - Pakistan in New Zealand 2010/2011

Arnel looked decent in the last match IMO but completely toothless here. Southee has been unlucky in both.

Pakistan lost the chance to win at the start of this session where they had to face some good bowling. They are doing the right thing at the moment.

I understand how frustrating it is, and if I was a neutral, I would be tearing my hair out probably. But please understand that Pakistan haven't won a test series in YEARS. This team is just coming off the most horible of scandals and being led by the 150th new Captain in the last 2 years. I don't care if they have shut up shop and just want to go for a boring draw. They need to win a series, period. Doesn't matter how.
I understand completely, and admire Pakistan for their approach. I'm really impressed with the new batsmen especially. They have technique and balls, unlike the guys I saw last year.

I was in NZ fan mode.

Makes me think more and more that vettori may have to bat 6 to fit into the team in the next few years if we have anyone vaguely resembling a spinner. That would be bad news for the other ex-bowler, Franklin.
Was just about to post that I can't support Vettori at eight and Franklin at six. You can't have a three man strike attack. It's real harsh on Jimmeh, but that's the way these things go.

Bowl on the ****ing stumps Martin.

A 2-0 victory would be more beneficial to both sides than 1-0 IMO.
Disagree. A 1-0 series victory for a team that last won a test series in 2006 is more important than going for a symbolic 2-0 whitewash. I want them to secure the win and not risk a series victory.

Does anyone know what Vettori's bowling averages are in Tests bowling in the 1st innings and 2nd innings across his career?

LBW going over the top. Would be fitting if the umpires had the last laugh this series

I posted his 4th innings average a few pages back. It is close to 40. Be interesting to see how that compares to the international spinners currently plying their trade.

Congrats to Pak on the series victory but they could have taken this. 10 overs, 6 wickets left and 60 odd to get. Game was on.

Not as big a difference as I expected. But I guess he's torn Bangladesh and Zimbabwe apart in the 2nd innings at times.

Harper does make the best case for and (and when he is the third umpire) against the review system.

It is ridiculous that it is not being used though.

Quite a difference in wickets there but hardily a huge difference in average and SR.

What annoys me about Vettori is that he's a world class ODI bowler, but after the World Cup, apparently he's said he's going to retire from one-day and twenty20 internationals and just play Tests and the IPL.

It would be better for us IMO if he gave up Tests and played ODIs. The format he's of most use to us in.

Bowling average over his career is 32.6 in first innings and 36.2 in second.

Whereas, since start of 2008 it's 27.4 in first innings and an enormous 43.7 in second inns.
