IPL4 Auction

G.I.Joe

International Coach
BANGALORE ROYAL CHALLENGERS: On an ideal note

Overseas quota: Dilshan, AB, Vettori, Nannes
Bowling: Nannes, Zaheer, Mithun, Vettori, KP? (local left-arm spinner)
Top Six: Dilshan, AB, Pujara, Tiwari, Kohli, Vettori
Behind the wicket: Shreevats?
Multiple Men: Vettori

This team looks good, but need to fill some blocks, such as the wicketkeeper, local seamer, local spinner and get some more multi-purpose players. They may stick to Shreevats Goswami and dig into the Karnataka player base to pick up KP Appanna, Sreenath Aravind and B Akhil, by a long shot, but they'd be better off with options outside the state. They've got strong batting and bowling, but a long tail and very insipid filler bowling.
Haha, RCB have basically bought out Delhi's overseas set from last year.

They're no longer a 'Test' team, but I can't see this bunch bettering last years RCB performance.

I would like to know whether they are just joking around? And keeping people on the tenterhooks? Plus if you see the visuals, the big dads are rocking on their chairs with laughter, as if they are just talking about an object. And not a cricketer. Sorry, but this is not even funny any more.

I'm surprised that Kemar Roach and Jacob Oram didn't get bids.
I'm not - West Indies' international schedule means that their players are barely available for either this year's IPL or in 2012, and while there have been a few WTF moments in this auction, all the IPL owners seem to have learned that splashing big money on players who will barely be available or injury prone (see Pierersen and Flintoff in 2009) isn't a particularly good idea.

I am pretty sure Bangalore and Hyderabad were bluffing their at the end and wanted to make Pune bid more.

But Since Pune almost called their bluff,Bangalore ended up with Kaif and a lesser budget for domestic players.

Plain old wooing will ensue
But what will they woo them with? They aren't allowed to offer them any benefits, and the IPL is keeping strict vigilance over that, like they did with Ravindra Jadeja last year. Vijay Mallya appealed to the IPL to do so this year as well.

The IPL can keep vigilance to a certain extent, but beyond that it is impossible.

Black money can change hands, or there can be loop holes found.

For example - RCB may offer Manish Pandey a highly paid job in Kingfisher airlines.

I'm not getting the point of "uncapped" Indian domestic players being ineligigble for a big pay day. Especially when some international debuts have been ITSTL, and some exclusions bordering on the criminal.

India cap now worth it's weight in gold, many times over?
