All I know is having watched Pakistan tour NZ since '93 (regardless of where their side is rated at the time), they seem to humiliate us in at least one test.

In terms of other examples in the last few years, not sure about bottom-ranked sides, but do I really have to remind you that 2nd innings collapses have been par for the course for NZ for years now?

Good points, I guess it is because it is Pakistan who are only ranked 6th and they are missing Amir, Asif and their top spinner that I took it as a low point.

Good points, I guess it is because it is Pakistan who are only ranked 6th and they are missing Amir, Asif and their top spinner that I took it as a low point.

Again, they just managed to draw the series against SA couple of months back without those guys, something I couldn't see NZ achieving against Morkel & Steyn, regardless of the wicket.

Wtf happened? When I left home this afternoon, for a net and a practice session, we were just heading in to bat. The pitch seemed good for batting albeit a little slow but there were clearly runs there to be made. I come home and find it's all over. Really, wtf happened? What a shambles of a batting unit.

I put it down to mentality. It's like they got bored and disheartened and once the slide started they let it happen so they could get an extra couple of days in front of the telly.

Fmd, send these clowns on one of those outback training boot camps or find people with the mental application to play. Or strip us of test status since they can't hold concentration for more then 100 overs. Lack of talent isn't the problem - Ryder, Taylor, McCullum, Williamson are the best bats in the country, while Guptill has potential and I honestly think if we got Tim McIntosh to do intensive net sessions with a proper batting coach that the other good countries use he could make a decent fist of it as an opener.

There's no pride, no passion and no reason for anyone to support them.

As shocking as it may sound, I can't see any changes for the 2nd test. All of the iffy selections (ie. Southee, Guptill, Arnel) all had pretty good games, at least on the scorecard. Maybe Timmy will get dropped and Guptill moved up to open in order to make room for Jimmy in the middle, but that would be pretty short sighted in my opinion. Any big changes will most likely have to wait until the end of the year.

Awta. As I said above, it's a mental thing. The XI we fielded is the strongest or close to the strongest that we can field (with debate over Young and about playing Franklin).

Hoping that they take this loss extremely seriously and go hard out in the next Test. There were hints of us being able to make something substantial (i.e. most of our first innings batting) but failed to go on with it due to brain explosions and bad luck.

I think NZ should try and promote Southee up the order. He seemed like NZ's best batsman
