So are there any cheap overseas players people think might get bought today?

I think Dan Christian, Nathan Rimmington and perhaps Travis Birt would be decent gets at a low price.

So Dwayne Bravo got a NOC from the WICB? Test career over?
Not a huge loss considering Sammy is captain thus has to play and Bravo hasn’t scored a run in an age.

Anyone have a list of the players up for auction today?
Anyone who registered that wasn't available yesterday? :p

Wonder if Mick Lewis or Ricardo Powell will get taken. Two of the worst cricketers to play international cricket?

Yea, truthfully all of them are a bit dodgy except the part about missing matches due to international commitments - that's the only one I agree with. Well, that and being asked to appear for promotional events, that too makes sense given the nature of the league.

But if you might take a 50% cut if you're injured - are you really going to put in that extra effort to drive, or bowl at full pace? I mean we're not talking about chump change - someone like Gambhir could potentially lose $1.2 million dollars because he dove at the boundary. That's ludicrous and really I think backfires if they want the players to play hard from them.

I could understand a clause that wouldn't pay them if they came in injured into the tournament, via injures sustained elsewhere, but during? That's just stupid.
Genuine question, how would the BCCI react if the players said no, that's bull****? How could they run a PR campaign to make them look good and the players to look like greedy ****s? Are unions legal in India?

If they have been performing fellatio, then that should get them a contract.

So how do these tax laws work, would Nathan McCullum pay as much tax as Ross Taylor, who is going to get more then 10x McCullum?

Roussow, Elgar, Ingram, Miller look like great SA prospects. Could be a real steal as most of them are priced at 20,000. Don't know if CJ de Villiers is in the auction. He could be a bargain buy too.

I agree about the availability even though it seems he would miss a couple of games at the end, but when the article says on the one hand he's no mystery spinner and it is easy to hit a offie, they must be rating IPL better than international T20 because Swann has shown he has plenty of variation to bowl on any track and especially, considering how well he bowled in WI which will be similar conditions to India. They then go on to say about Botha, 'He is a fantastic offspinner, a superb fielder,' who went for $950,000 is bit of a contradiction. But anyway, one man who will be happy is Andy Flower, I think England benefited from not being involved in the IPL last year so from that viewpoint it's no bad thing.
Off Spinners are looked for more variation like Doosra in their bowling. Swann does not have it. Off Spinners are prefered if they can do a lil bit of batting, Swann does not do it. A specialist spinner is difficult to fir. Then Indian pitches are quite different from those of Windies. Performance in Windies is on different pitches against a weaker oppostion, so that does not come into consideration. Plus Swann overpriced himself. Obviously Indian players will get much more money than foreign coz it Indian league and Indian players are more popular. The top long term tested players priced themselves at 400k. An base price of 200k would have got bidders for him and maybe have taken him to 350K level.

Uthappa (2.1) earns more then Tendulkar (1.8) in this IPL
Retaining a player does not mean that what budget cut you had, you will have a similary salary cap for him. As per the clause, Mumbai would have to negotiate with Tendulkar based on highest salary they have offered in Auction.

 Seriously the worst post ever. Just copied some of the Cricinfo article and then made up bollocks. Swann has four 4 FC hundreds (35 fifties!) and a test batting average near 25. Has opened domestically as well.

Oh so I need to make you understand in detail.
Mumbai's Highest Bid is at 2 M USD for Rohit Sharma.

Now for the retained player they will negotiate with him, and the min proce they will offer to him is 2 M USD. Even if they offer say 3 M USD, for the bidding 9 M Cap it will be taken as 1.8 because they have retained the player. So saying Tendulkar earning less than Gambir is not actually true as of now. It may be true or we will never know, coz Tendulkar and Mumbai keep it a secret
