Smith should be a bit wary about his spot for SA. Hasn't done much this year and in Moffatt, SA have a bloke who's hitting grade and Futures runs (might be the top scorer so far?) and was 12th the last game so he's in the selector's minds.

Geez all our batsmen are heading into the Ashes with no form or in Clarke's case with a back injury. The only other one that looks good is our keeper.

Aint looking good is it? Ive never been so nervous about playing England ever, maybe in 1989 before the 1st test, we were expected to get rightly thrashed but several guys really stood up (Waugh, Taylor, Alderman), we need some heroes to come out of this series and stand up big time. Big matches bring out big performances, we shall see.

Hussey looking very scratchy, Hastings just beat him with beauty of a cutter.

Hastings currently has 5 overs, 5 maidens, 1 wicket, 0 runs. Awesome.

Gonna be relying heavily on our bowlers I feel. One out of six batsmen in form is not a good look...

Well, I wouldn't say North was particularly out of form. He's hit two tons in his last seven innings or so. He's just been.. North.

I hope he scores 199 and you still fume.

Turning my attention to the Queensland game, it is very nice to see the development of Cameron Boyce. He is landing his leg-breaks well, and not dropping too many deliveries short (once per over is OK for a young leggie).

...........Expect him to be announced for the 2nd Test squad.

Oh how I wish you were kidding.

Seems about as threatening a bowler as Brooke Walker, though.

Look, Mr Cricket can not play the First Test.

Funny that his bro took the catch that could terminate his career.

Do any batsmen want to be counted today? Jaques was looking set for a big score, and now Butterworth has him too.

Butterworth may soon have a bowling average below 25 by the end of this game. Not too many bowlers in Australia with that sort of average after 30 games.
