Ronny is probably making North sweat buckets!! Ron almost playing like a man possessed to get his test spot back.
The interesting thing is he hadn't really done much for the Vics in the recent times, but he is really turning it on right now, and with the Ashes series so near he couldn't have timed things any better.
Good call, Pup.

Seriously, I would take Ronny over North any day of the week.

Ponting failing again yesterday. For mine, I think what he did in India (where he looked quite good) is more representative of his form-line than this Shield match which deep down he probably wasn't really motivated for.

Is one FC game enough to prove your form and fitness though? The last thing you want is him getting injured again midway through the 1st test.
Btw, what's the point of suggesting anyone else' name in place of Johnson's, we all know he won't be dropped come what may!!
Well it's my best case scenario. He's becoming a weak link and Australian fast bowling stocks are very good - Albeit young and raw

Yeah I'd still back Cameron for the Gabba anyway

He's still our best performing bowler, despite the dross he occasionally bowls.

Geez, dire passage of play there. White bowls at least three long hops in an over and only goes for two, and now Smith gets caught bad-pad off a full-toss.

The worry is that Johnson is so crucial to our attack (think England 2009) and yet so erratic.

By contrast, guys like Warne and McGrath were so crucial and yet so consistent - absolute bankers.

Yeah, I think the point is that he shouldn't be looked upon as crucial as he is and used as our best bowler, as he is. He should be used as a partnership breaker, because that's what he does. Seems to average out at just under 30 runs per wicket regardless of what the conditions are like and who's batting.

Agreed. He's a Brett Lee type - incredibly good at times, but also poor and goes for plenty at other times.

Clarke injured or just giving the others a hit?

I'd love to see Jaques put some pressure on the selectors here.

Yeah I wonder if Jaques will continue to bat in the middle order to give himself more opportunities at regaining his Australian spot..

Excellent 8 wicket win for QLD, nice to see our top 4 all in the runs for the first time this season!

Jaques is further away from Test selection than ever. How many names have been thrown around for the Australian lineup of late? White, Ferguson, D Hussey, Marsh, Khawaja, Hughes, Smith, Ronald, Klinger, Bailey etc. Tough time to break in for Jaques.

Holland bowling very nicely. His performance this game should lock him into the side until Christmas, and if he keeps bowling like this it may be the end for McGain.
