SP Fleming 1997-2006 80 28 27 0 25 1.03 35 33.75

Pretty obvious for mine... (pick your Crowe, but I meant Martin)...

I'd almost say that during his reign as skipper Fleming was almost the best going around, extracting so much from the cattle he had on the park.

Not a hint of rockstar about him.
Im not entirely sure thats fair. M. Crowe was presided over what is arguably the worst NZ side of the past 2 decades, with far less natural talent than any of the sides that Fleming worked with. I watched the 92 world cup and what he achieved with the players at his disposal deserves praise beyond words. Fleming was excellent, but having listened to Crowe in the commentary box and watched him captain that world cup I dont quite think this decision is as clear cut as you've made it out to be.

Moving my previous comment to the correct thread

So when this comes back and bites you in the arse and SL hammer WI 3-0 - I trust that means you'll shut up about how WI are better than NZ.
Jesus christ!!.. been back five minuets and already the same old folks can't help but follow me again!!..they must think this is "twitter!"! ,

But the fact is getting beaten by Bang and getting beaten by SL are obviously two very different things, hopefully you'll understand that, furthermore we haven't been whitewashed by SA or Aus in the past year despite having half of our best team missing, so needless to say i'm hopeful we won't be getting whitewashed in SL either.

The Sarwan dropping wasn't solely about fitness though. That's just the excuse. He was the one leading the Guyana players in standing up to their board.
Given the history of the WI cricket, there is probably some truth in this....

However, the issues surrounding Sarwan's lack of commitment to fitness concerns is a long-standing one, as can be witnessed by the large number of matches he missed thru injury in the past couple of years.

Tbf I posted something similar, but I think it's a bit different coming from a supporter of another team.

Exactly, i can't see how it was "flaming" because if i'd have said the same thing about our tour coming in SL people would have reacted in the same way, but i guess it's one rule for me and another rule for others.

What the **** are you on about? I was talking about how the ranking system works not suggesting that New Zealand would actually win anything.

FFS worst bloke.

The practice match with Board President's XI will begin on Nov 10th at SSC. SL BCP XI has some Test players and ones nearing a test cap as well.

SL BCP XI Squad: Thilan Samaraweera*, Tharanga Paranavithana, Dimuth Karunaratne, Lahiru Thirimanne, Thilina Kandamby, Ajantha Mendis, Ashan Priyanjana, Prasanna Jayawardena+, Malinga Bandara, Shaminda Eranga, Chanaka Wellagedera, Thilan Thushara, Nuwan Pradeep, Satchitra Senanayake, Kushal Janith Perera

That team has some impressive bowlers and very close to test standard.

The playing XI most probably would be: Paranavithana, Thirimanne, Karunarathne, Samaraweera, Kandamby, Perera, Jayawardane, Senanayake, Thushara, Mendis, Pradeep

Senanayake is a good off spinner knocking on the door. Thushara is coming back from injury and easilty SL's best bowler when fit. Pradeep is bit erratic but has some serious steam and clocked at 150k. Gutted to see Kaushal Silva not in it, another very capable keeper batsman.

BTW, Mods, can you change this to SL vs WI Official thread?

3-0 to SL, IMO.

For all the talk of spinners, I think Malinga will be the one to own WI. He has looked awesome all-round this year and has averaged 27? in the Indian series despite it being played on flat wickets and he coming off injury.

Randiv looks an amazing prospect, took 9 in Colombo against India and looked good in the LO games in Australia. Should start obv.

Mendis hasn't looked good for a while and I think they should try out Senanayake for one game atleast.

Senanayake is supposed to be better than Randiv in the longer game because he spins it a hard yard. And that fella is around 6' 2" in height

I would love WI to give SL a game and draw atleast one Test, but it probably won't happen. Sanga and Mahela to average 100+ in the series.

That was what I expected Sachin and Sehwag to do against NZ (They can make ground in the next two never mind). But things sometime do not go according to the script. Only difference is that if one of the WI pacers like Roach gets it right he can take apart best of a batting line up. (And we saw what senile Martin could do, Rach expected to be much serious than that if gets it right)

Sehwag did score 173 in the first innings...

As always, this'll depend a lot on how many of West Indies best eleven are playing. Their best eleven is actually quite a decent team in theory but it never features and they'd comfortably have the biggest gulf between their Test team and their A team.
