*Official* Sri Lanka in Australia 2010

What does a teams test ranking have to do with ODI selection policy? Australia is the #1 ranked ODI team, I think we can afford to make ODI selection decisions with an eye on the World Cup squad in a rather meaningless ODI series.
How is it with an eye on the WC? That's like half a year away. Let that take care of itself.

We're nothing like the force we were in ODI cricket.

Plus, the dynamics on tour are different when the squad is losing.

I won't be convinced that the squad didn't need Ponting around for the rest of that tour.

Think it's quite obvious that the Idea behind "resting" Ponting is to give less experience players more exposure in the lead-up to the World Cup, and to continue to give Clarke a chance to develop as a captain. It's not about trying to outsmart anyone with theories etc. but obviously a decision made with an eye on the World Cup, and the upcoming ashes series. Selection policy for ODI's is rightfully different from that in tests.

did I hear Aussies getting hammered at home also? it is soo funny.. i completely forgot about the match last night.. today in the morning, i checked cricinfo so maybe i could find that razzaq celebration picture to add in my Avator.. but oh boy.. wasn't I surprised?

Just for that, change of plans Malinga and Mathews it is.

to all those full of bs Aussie commentators.. and this goes to Ian Chappell as well who called Pakistan Panikistan all through summer last year this time around.. How does it feel to be in the recieving end of all these losses..I see your team is going through the same patch or I should say going through the same disappointment that we pakistani fans have been through for years now.. How does it feel, If I come around and make fun of that now..

on that happy note hope they are clean sweep 3-0 at home as well.. that would be some celebration for me.

There's a lot of very thin skinned fans out there it would seem.

Would you have preferred Chappell suggest that they were cheating? Because that or panic were really the only two credible options.

Was just making the point that that dismissal shows his technique may not be as good as some wouldl like to think and may not be Test standard.
Thought it was a pretty good ball to get first up myself. Think others in the team would've ended up with the same result.

How did he know they were cheating? as far as I know, only in the last ODI there was an attempt of cheating? throughout the rest of the tour, they played clean... or I should say Cheating free cricket knowing that clean may not be the right words to describe that disastrous tour...

but i was disappointed at chappell for his comments during the 20/20 world cup.. right before the Semi final against pakistan, he completely marked pakistan off saying that they can't challange and beat Aus... I also remember that day of Semi finals, when we lost a winning match.. but the positive from that match was that we proved to the likes of Chappell that we can challange any team and anytime.. it was the brillance of Hussey that win them the match..We didn't lose or throw the match but we made them work hard for their win at least.

But unlike your posts in this thread, most people on here who support all teams have lamented the demise of Pakistan, no matter how self-induced it is.

Each to their own I suppose.

Plus, this has nothing to do with Pakistan at all. Oh well, trolling is trolling and I suppose I should admonish myself to falling victim to it so easily.

Posts like this aren't going to add anything to the discussion and are only going to rile up other members, Aaron. Not appropriate.

It's not Australia's fault your two best players are cheaters and will never play again.

correction..not only 2.. 10 to 12 players
Mazhar Majeed told Scott yardy that he has been working with 10 to 12 players for the past 2 years to fix matches.. so no doubt about that.. and i am not here to claim that they are not cheaters.. All i am trying to say is that the Aussie commentators for years made fun of pakistan cricket without taking us fans feeling in to consideration..I am just glad that their team is going through the same troubles..

I may sympathize with their fans maybe but i would pay anything and everything to see the expression in the face of Chappell and Co. after losing to Sri Lanka the other night :)

I'm sure the whole commentary team cried themselves to sleep after Australia lost a ODI

Think the commentary team were actually surprisingly good last night. They actually seemed sincere in their congratulations over Sri Lanka's achievements.

When Healy interviewed Malinga and Co. he had a huge smile, but we all know he was burning inside.

Think the commentators got caught up in how well Mathews and Malinga played. They seemed to enjoy the partnership and be pretty pleased for the SL boys at the end. As has been said, it's hard to get too upset when SL beat you because they're quality guys. I don't think they're biased against the Pakistani team - I think guys like Chappelli accurately think some of the Pakistani players are dodgy or flakes. I guess the truth hurts sometimes.
