Nah Laxman's awesome against India - he's never been dismissed by them in a Test match.I think you might mean Aus instead of India.

Lol - indeedI think you might mean Aus instead of India.
This. That's a topic that's pretty irrelevant to this thread. Sachin's form has nothing to do with Laxman's status.
I do not believe that Sachin is only doing well because he hasn't played many away tours.Back to the future.
My original comment related to SRT's recent renaissance as compared to India's lack of sigificant away tours in that period.
Do you disagree?
Was more of a contribution to the discussion than a warningEdit: Just saw Matt's post. Fair enough.
The point is that you have a different standard for two men. If Laxman did what Tendy did in 2nd test, you would have counted that as pressure situation, in Tendy's case you don't.No one is going to deliver on every occasion. My point is that Laxman is better than most players when it comes to delivering when it matters most. I should think that that is more relevant than whether his overall average is 50+ or not.
I really hope that Saffie team has the same mentality. It is reallyWho cares? Laxman is the only one of India's "golden generation" with an average over 40 in SA.
Hence my comment that he is the only Indian batsman that worries me.
Maybe, but if SRT is considered a "great"I don't see a problem with comparisons.@ Taipan, Jono - That's a topic that's pretty irrelevant to this thread. Sachin's form has nothing to do with Laxman's status.

Tendy has 3 100s in SA and 500 more runs than LAx . You ignore that and focus on 1.5 point difference in averages then I guess you have lost your case here.
Given Up ?? In the 1st inning with india 38/2 and traling by 450 runs, the bowlers had given up ?There is a difference though - Laxman did it 8-down against a fired-up bowling attack on a bouncy pitch, Tendulkar did it 2-down against a bowling attack that had basically given up.
But then you have situations where Sachin hits a match winning unbeaten hundred in Chennai 2008 against England whereas Laxman failed and opened the door for an England win, who were massive favourites when he was out, as only the unproven Yuvraj and Dhoni were left to bat. There is a difference though - Laxman did it 8-down against a fired-up bowling attack on a bouncy pitch, Tendulkar did it 2-down against a bowling attack that had basically given up.
If the 4th innings average is the criteria for greatness, then the thread should really be about Yuvi..One word - waterboy.
