My original comment related to SRT's recent renaissance as compared to India's lack of sigificant away tours in that period.

Do you disagree?

I do not believe that Sachin is only doing well because he hasn't played many away tours.

a) He did well in NZ in 2009
b) He did well in Australia in 2007-08
c) He did well in Sri Lanka in 2010

No one is going to deliver on every occasion. My point is that Laxman is better than most players when it comes to delivering when it matters most. I should think that that is more relevant than whether his overall average is 50+ or not.

The point is that you have a different standard for two men. If Laxman did what Tendy did in 2nd test, you would have counted that as pressure situation, in Tendy's case you don't.

No, just that Laxman is my real worry. He grafts out the tough runs in tough situations.

But then you have situations where Sachin hits a match winning unbeaten hundred in Chennai 2008 against England whereas Laxman failed and opened the door for an England win, who were massive favourites when he was out, as only the unproven Yuvraj and Dhoni were left to bat.

@ Spark : The Aussie bowlers had their tails up at 38-2 with the dangerman dismissed... the Indian reply was essentially built around Tendulkar's knock. Follow-on wouldn't have been far off at all if had he failed. SL also had India in a similar situation in the 2nd Test of the previous series, however that was a real flatbed. Still runs are runs, and the scoreboard pressure of 450+ runs is not something to be underestimated IMO.
