Yeah, have always wondered whether a ball that a left-armer bowls that moves from left to right is called an inswinger or an outswinger? That is, just as a left arm spinner is SLA/Chinaman, is it different for a left arm paceman?

I was just reading an article on Rickey Ponting, saying he thought Bollinger not bowling the overs he usually does, was a big difference. He stated it would have been nice to have another quick to turn to.

Yet, Watson only got 6 overs in the 1st and 2 overs in the 2nd innings. Not saying Watto is a proper quick, but I feel he was underused!

Any thoughts?

I think it's just that most of the longer term planning is Ashes planning. So when the series is over it's a good time to make changes because there isn't an important series for a while. If North had have been crap in the '09 Ashes, I'm almost certain he wouldn't be in the XI anymore.

I didn't see any of his bowling in the second innings, but from what I saw in the first innings, he definitely wasn't bowling at full pace. Reckon he was still a bit stiff from his century, and his 50 in the second dig wouldn't have exactly helped him recover.

Nah, you just call it an inswinger. Everything revolves around right handed batsmen.

Put it this way, if Johnson was just doing some work bowling at a set of cones and not a batsman, he'd just be referring to it as his inswinger.

Looked stiff as a board when he did bowl so probably wasnt 100% fit

Watto looked really tired. Wasn't up to bowling at all

Watson looked absolutely cooked. Or he was just really trying to move the ball and not rely on pace. The way he bowled in the UK vs Pakistan was good enough. Watto, more of that please!
