Even before the game began today, Pasag and others said that giving batsman singles when they are with the tail is bad captaincy.

Yousuf showed it in the Sydney test this year.

Ponting did that when they were 8 down. Australia lost.

I think when you criticise something before it happens saying it will cause a loss. And there is a loss, you can criticise the captain.
Blame the ******** kid batting six FFS!

Mind you, lack of a third man ****s me to tears

Is it just me or does Australia seem to lose more than their fair share of close run Test matches?

Or is it that someone defeating Australia in a close run match simply happens to be more memorable?

(Not suggesting for a moment that Australia are set to give SAF a run for their money as top Test chokers).

Well as Ponting said when Australia play, there is good cricket. Too bad Australia can't play good cricket...8-)

I don't understand why North is relevant at the moment when you need 2 wickets to win, and the opposition need 90+ runs to win.

North is ****, sure. Clarke batted **** too by the way. Hauritz bowled poo as well.

Lots of reasons for the loss. But Ponting's captaincy today is one of those reasons.

What are you going on about?

Hoping that the pitch for the next test isn't a dire one because test matches like this are only good for cricket. :)

Agree with all of this.

Clarke - what the **** are you doing mate? You're in top form but you're just doing the most moronic things at the crease.

No doubt you can criticise him, but the carry-on like it's the deciding fact in a match everytime is utter rubbish imho. So many things from all 11 players that could have been done differently that MAY have changed the outcome of the match.

What an awesome game, VVS is just magic against Australia. I'm pretty gutted with the result but hopefully the think tank realize that being loyal to the older guys like North and Hussey is silly when we are losing.

If you're not good enough (North), you're not good enough.

If you can win, but make bad tactical moves, you're fair game.

Yeah exactly. Especially because you can't call North's innings crunch moments where the match is there to be won or lost.

So wish you were here in 07..

It's friendly banter mate. Those indulging in it have done so for years.

I think the reason for this loss is the same story as always for the Australian team. The middle order. Its as simple as that.

That's another big reason obv. Hussey and North are past it (though technically North was never there in the first place) but when Ponting and Clarke decide to be retards, leaves a lot for Watto, Katich and the bowlers to do.

We have scraped through our fair share as well - Pak in Syd, India in Syd (although both are tainted for different reasons), South Africa at home where Smith batted with a dud arm.

That said, Australian Test matches for the past two years have been more exciting then Test matches involving any other nation - that is a fact.
