What do we think the plan for Australia is here?

I imagine they will look to bat normally until tea, hope to be no more than 4 down and around 180-200 odd ahead, then looking to accelerate after tea. Assuming they don't lose a bundle of wickets, can anyone see them doing anything different to that approach?

I'd imagine Ponting wants 330-350 mimimum. The ground is not huge, outfield lightning fast and the wicket still generally decent enough. I don't think he would declare tonight at all unless someone goes nuts, given the easiest scoring time for batsmen in all three digs has been with the new ball, and that means Sehwag late in the day giving India bulk momentum going into tomorrow..

I'd agree with this but I doubt we'd go in 4-down. 3-down or 5-down.

What's the pitch doing those who are watching? Is the bounce noticeably more variable & is it likely to play tricks tomorrow?

These two are negotiating Zaheer brilliantly so far, and Zaheer is bowling pretty well.

Very much so. Balls have been keeping low all match but there's been some alarming bounce as well.

I'd say it's still a good batting track though.

Johnson could really be loving this pitch in the 4th innings. Think we need 350 tbh though
AWTA. True variable bounce and an even half on-target Johnson is not a enticing prospect for the batsmen.

Kat is doing the take the hand off the bat trick with Zaheer now too. Reckon he might have cracked a thumb...

Yeh its a pretty precarious situation Ponting is in...if there are enough runs by tonight he could declare, but potentially allow India to win with a Sehwag blitz, or he could allow play into tmrw putting a lot of pressue on his bowlers to get them out. I can't see Ponting taking the more placid approach. If there are enough runs on the board, I think he will declare tonight.

This is such fantastic batting. Might not catch the eye like a Sehwag blitzkrieg but it's amazing how well they are rotating the strike against some pretty accurate bowling. Reminds me of how Tendulkar and Laxman played on the last day when we chased 250 odd in SL recently.

Yeah fair enough. Other thing is we're chasing the series here.

Actually, is the trophy up for grabs here, now that I think of it?
