In '08? Wasn't the first choice, he was the only senior one who wasn't injured. He was still shyte for us.He was your first-choice right back when you won the League-CL double and a part of your success, I'd say. I was just making that statement as a general trend.. Scholes is another example and I've read that Giggs was not completely committed to his national team (though TBF, he would have struggled to take Wales to a major tournament in any case).
If your going to call up a keeper to sit on the bench, call up the best, either that or call me up your not looking at talent. Don't choose the 4th or 5th best within driving distance.....And that disproves the entire point? Was more about Fielding anyway the U21s thing. Loach is convenience as well. No use calling up a keeper from a Prem team to just sit on the bench.
Why? In the initial squad we were going to have two Prem keepers just sat on the bench.
Robinson and Foster were there to challenge with Hart to start. At this late stage it's no use calling up a player to challenge as the team's already been training so any keeper brought in would likely sit on the bench. Best then to call up a younger player and have a look at them.If your going to call up a keeper to sit on the bench, call up the best, either that or call me up your not looking at talent. Of course he wasn't.. you kept clean sheets all the way to the final against the likes of Barcelona. In '08? Wasn't the first choice, he was the only senior one who wasn't injured. He was still shyte for us.

No, if Fielding is already on international duty you can quite easily call him up. Loach is a different story. No need to worry other keepers when you're not going to play them.
Full backs who can't attack have absolutely no place in the modern game.He defended competantly at times. which isnt too tough against most European teams, especially when your centre backs are the best in the business. He offered the square root of eff all going forward, which is where a utd full back earns his keep. Hence why we love Rafael, he may still be shaky at the back (he'll learn though) but he's a demon going forward
Agreed.Of course he wasn't.. you kept clean sheets all the way to the final against the likes of Barcelona.
