*Official* Pakistan in England 2010

Just watching the highlights again now.
Really enjoy watching this Pakistan seam attack operate. 3 seamers each of whom, on his day, is as good as anyone in world cricket.

Who in the Bang line up is world class, apart from Tamim?Shakib maybe but that is about it.Salman>Tamim and Umar Akmal>Shakib.Nothing much between the rest though.
In Tamim Bangladesh have a batsman who judging by his past year in Test cricket, can at least be relied upon to score centuries against different attacks. At the moment, Pakistan have no-one they can turn to for big runs - the presence of Tamim alone makes Bangladesh's lineup better than Pakistan's.

That was hardly the point of my post though. It was more like what has England done to deserve a place at the top. That is precisely why the 3-1 remark was put in brackets too.
As much as anyone else in the top 5 have. South Africa excepted, all the rest of the top 5 are capable of beating each other at home and losing away.

Been busy last couple of days..what a knock from Gul..just checked the highlights..that was amazing to see.....

I don't think its really working, the Umar Amin and Azhar Ali thing.....Umar Akmal has to prove his worth he is no where close to being a reliable batsman...Probably the worst Pak batting line up in ages this...

Advance congrads to English fans....since i will be umpiring a league game tomorrow and wouldn't be able to catch the game or get to a comp.....

Morgan = Future Test Legend....the way he is batting is brilliant!

India at full strength is quite capable of winning in england and at the moment in Australia as well. Don't judge our seamers just because of their dire record on flat pitches.

And I don't think SA is unbeatable at home. Australia just proved it. England drew against them.

They are descending in the sense that, quick bowlers are regressing with the exception of Zak, they don't have a good spinner [harbi is hit or miss], and sachin is 37.. so are other two in middle order..
While in england middle order with the exception of colly, all the remaining are pretty young and should play better. [Granted its all hypothetical].

Strauss yet to win first away series?? Dhoni won against NZ and BAN?? Do you really see that as an argument? Cook won in Ban.. Core of this ENG side first came together in NZ 2008 which they duly won..
I merely brought out Dhoni comparison to say there is little difference as far as captaincy records as concerned between Dhoni and Strauss. If anything, Dhoni's record as captain is superior atm to Strauss'

There is no "regression" happening to be honest. Zaheer is injured so is Sreesanth. Indian pace bowling never has been that brilliant in the first place. Ishant cannot bear the brunt of the attack on his own as he is still a kid. Once Zaheer and Sree are back, I don't see why our attack should be as horrible as being brought out here.

Sachin might be 37 but why don't you checkout how he's been in the last 3 years? (check my signature). Dravid looks almost out I agree, but we have reasonable backup in Pujara. I'd give this side another year to battle it out and look at reinforcements post World Cup.

And somehow after all these India still manage to stay at the top and by a huge margin.

BTW I am wondering what's a discussion on India doing here inthis thread. Sorry for being a culprit in this divergence and I will stop it now.

Australia have beating SA away for a decade now, it proves nothing as far as India is concerned. SA is probably India's toughest challenge in cricket overall, especially away.

In retrospect, I'm pretty happy with the way India handled England's seam attack in 2007, very good team batting effort from Karthik, Jaffer, Sachin, Ganguly, Laxman, Dhoni, Kumble and the London weather. :)

I know the Test isn't over but would anyone object with Danesh Kaneria getting replaced with Saeed Ajmal or Wahab Riaz and Umar Amin getting replaced by Yasir Hameed for the second Test?

Not very good lines from England to start off until Jimmy got a good in swinger to nail Fahrat.

Beauty of a ball from James Anderson, that went real late. Umar Akmal really didn't look too comfortable out there today, I could of sworn he had much better footwork in New Zealand late last year, his feet today were going nowhere.

Feeling reasonably confident for this series, I think we should win over the four, but no doubt we'll have at least one of our collapses at some point. Tipping Broad to take a lot of wickets.
I'd be tipping Onions for a bag-full if he was fit. Full of a good length and straight will work wonders against this team; don't know if that's Broad's go quite enough at this point. Tipping Anderson to outdo Broad actually.
I dunno... I hope Jimmy takes lots but he just doesn't seem to be doing that well recently.
Gun. :p
