Guess people have short memories. James Anderson was probably our best ODi bowler last year. It was the first time since 03 when he first burst onto the scene that he was consistently taking wickets. He took 34 wickets at 23.61 at an economy of 4.97, they are very good figures. This year he's had a couple of poor games in a row, but his figures for the year still look more than decent. 12 wickets at 32 is reasonable, and certainly not bad enough to warrant getting dropped. Bresnan might be more economical, but he's opening the bowling, he should be taking wickets with the new ball, and he just isn't doing that. I expected him to look threatening with the new ball against these boys, but he didn't look like buying a wicket, and it wasn't until they were slogging at the end that he picked up a couple of wickets. His performances against Australia were god awful, and how he's kept his place until today is beyond me. Economy just isn't enough for an opening bowler.
Surprise, surprise, England bowling first again. A couple of changes to the side though, which is nice to see. Trott in for Tredwell and Shahzad replaces Bresnan. Looking forward to seeing how Shahzad goes. Hopefully he'll actually look threatening with the new ball.
