*Official* Australia vs Pakistan in England

Tbf, they are playing Pakistan. Considering their record against them going back several years, I don't think they're shaking in their boots.
Dude i understand that you don't wanna jinx it for Pak  but come on Pakistan can, and i am betting will, beat Aussies in the first test....especially due to there bowling.

Would be the happiest person in the history of ever if that takes place, but UNTIL it happens I can only go by the recent trends...

WTF moment....a Test series is just about to start and Australia's preparation is 5x ODI's against England, 2x T20I's against Pakistan and a 2 day match that plays 12 players and 100 overs per innings maximum....good luck Australia.....
Pakistan's preparation has been just the same minus the ODI's so I don't see the cause for alarm based on that.

I'm interested to see how the Australian bowlers perform tonight. Hopefully George takes a few wickets and stays in the selectors minds. Hopefully Hilfy's knee is 100% right to.

Lets hope they can overcome Chris Rogers this time too.

Clarke doesn't need practice matches as much as other players, see NZ, WI tours. He'll end the series with the most Australian runs.

I think so, but in the case of the NZ tour that's because he used the match as the practice. What was he, like, 30 off 70? 80?

Mind you, he ended the day 100 off 140ish so it worked.

From what I've heard though, he spends a looooooooooooooooooooot of time in the nets.

Its all nice being positive and all but realistically anything other then a comprehensive Aus win will be a shock, Pakistan may compete a few sessions here and there but difference in class is usually seen through in a test match unlike a T-20

Lot of question marks over our bowling

- Hilf coming back from injury
- Bollinger has not succeeded in England previously
- Johnson was all over the shop last time he played here
- Smith - debutant, FC bowling average closer to 50 than 40

We haven't won a series in England in almost a decade. If Pakistan's batting clicks, they will win the series, no questions.

yes if Younis and Yusuf were there ffs the batting line up includes Farhat,Hameed and Malik if this clicks hell will freeze over and not to forget Kamran Akmal is due a dropped catch or 10 especially after he kept well in the last 2 games.

haha, come on Zac. Technically speaking the last series OZ won in England was in 2001 but there have only been two series in England since then!

And as many questions as Aus have, Pakistan surely have many, many more, especially over their batting. For their batting to click is going to require a fairly massive shift in fortunes. Surely Umar Akmal is their only form player?

- Watson injured (I presume)
- North pretty toothless

Looks like Rogers is hoping to reprise 2005.

North never had any teeth in the first place.

Don't know what's happened to Watto, hasn't bowled since the 1st ODI (where he got carted IIRC)

Yeah but the reason we lost both those series had a lot to do with the English conditions which we've never been able to master. I think that still applies now, which was my point of concern.

Thought the conditions were fairly different on both tours, tbh. Quite a few more overcast days in '09 than '05. Was drier in '05 so lots of reverse swing around but virtually none in '09 but lots of conventional swing.

Anyway, Aamer aside, don't think any of the Pakistani bowlers are much of a worry right now. Even if Asif hits his straps and keeps the Aussies down to a manageable total, the Pakistani batting is a massive concern for them.

Yep not to mention..every now and then Aamer or Asif will bowl a beauty, Clarke or Ponting will nick it...and then the world's greatest wicket keeper will spill the catch..and Ponting will go onto make a 200..
