*Official* Australia vs Pakistan in England

This is awesome to watch.

edit: Shoaib is nearly at mid-90s mate.
Wow really..thats awesome...I didnt get to see the T20s nor the Asia Cup..but I am hoping he gets fitter and can remain fit and quick at least till the World Cup next year.

Great stuff from pakistan in these two games. Can they carry the confidence into the tests?
As happy as I am after the 2-0, it has more to to do with Pakistan's terrible losing streak since December last year..so any win was welcome. However I dont have much hope for the Tests..Australia is the number 2 team in the world, England is perhaps the number 3 team in the world..and Pakistan is playing them away from home...Yousuf and Younis, who are considered the best in the country struggle outside the subcontinent...so when your batting line up comprises of Butt, Shahzaib, Mallik, Umar (the lone bright spot) and Afridi, up against Johnson, Bollinger, Anderson, Broad, Finn..cant have hopes to high..

I am just looking forward to watching Asif and Aamer bowl on seaming conditions...and Umar develop some temperament and patience at the test level.

but black warrior, even the australians arent any good as of now

consider the fact that the australian team no more has its bowlers which made it invincible

and i dont think shaun tait who cant bowl more than spell of 2 overs can do much in test cricket.even theiir genuine spinner is injured

so if pakistan take this well, they have every chance

but, the australians just can make about a comeback form any damn position, but with ponting in such a form and they themselves not able to find a successful opening pair once hayden and langer retired, they sure are into troubles

more over, themain motive with australians is that they wouldnt want to go into the ashes which is their most important test series for over the past 100 years or so with a defeat to someone like pakistan

so they sure will be upto the challenge and if under such circumstances also ,pakistan does something godd, it will be a great achievement

and i surely think pakis have got a chance, man this afridi is a good captain

yeah exactly the only positive that Pakistan can gain from this tour if some of the youngsters gain valuable tough test cricket experience and hopefully they look like a settled team once the tour is over, any wins in the test matches will be a surprise and huge bonus.

Nah it will be a battering when your best bat is a 20 yr old rookie you know you are in trouble. The 20-20 have been quality really enjoyed them ofcourse Pak winning made it feel better though tbf the umpiring dicked Aus yesterday.
Such as?

Only really hear that Pakistan is the best Twenty20 side in the world from Pakistani fans. They are pretty good, but to give them the title of unequivocally best side is nonsense, they're not. I mean you call Aus a "fluke" Twenty20 side (what does that even mean?), could say the same thing about Pak really. I mean, we just won three in a row against them, then they win a couple and all of a sudden we're the fluke side.

Not saying that they are bad, just don't think they are inherently better or worse than say India, SA, SL, Aus, England, NZ or even the WI. Best bowling attack though.

You only hear that from Pakistani fans? I’ve read quotes from opposing players that state the same. They have performed exceptionally well at the WC in this format and have consistently won matches overall. Now the part about Australia being a “fluke” team (only stated by one poster AFAIK) or Pakistan being unequivocally the best side I don’t agree with at all. However when you talk about the best 3 sides in the format, most people will either have Pakistan right at the top or amongst the top 3. Your last point about them having the best bowling attack is actually the primary reason for their excellence in this format.

Yeah, pretty much. Most others realise that there isn't a best side at the format.
If you are only contesting the “best” label, then I agree with you. If your point is that they are not a clear cut top side and any one of the 7 teams you listed in your earlier post can claim to be better than I strongly disagree. I think their record clearly show them to be ranked within the top 3, something that not every team can claim IMO. We maybe arguing semantics though, so I’ll just let it go at that.

Think the nature of the format means pretty much anyone can beat anyone else on any given day. I mean, we're the world champions () but were beaten by (no offence to them) Holland barely a year ago in our home world cup at Lords.

Will also say Pakistan only made the 2010 semis thanks to English largesse; if we hadn't have been professional and beaten the kiwis in what was for us a dead rubber they'd have gone out in the Super 8s. In fact Sir Alex debated with all and sundry at great length about what a travesty their qualification was. Didn't agree with him, but there was a hint of spawn about their progress, whereas Oz's first defeat was in the final ( again).

Yeah spot on. But I think there certainly is an opportunity for a side to be out and out the best in the world (for example if a side had India's bats and Pak's bowlers that side would never lose a match, ever) it just doesn't really exist yet.

Not something i suggested. But i certainly mean it in every sense that Australia is a fluke T20 team. Had it not been for the once in a life time innings from Hussey Pak was going in to the final of the WC for the third straight time and who knows how they would have dealt with England. Looking at what Umar Akmal has posted the top guy for Pak Gul was also missing.

Not only from Pak fans. A number of other people believe Pakistan is arguably the best T20 side....like Fusion said, if not number 1 then certainly number 2 hands down.

Yeah was clearly a fluke, like beating Pakistan earlier in the tournament and a couple of months before that as well. An unbeaten Australian side certainly fluked their way into the final...
