Yeah, but Barath is the only one that should be playing test cricket at this stage of his career. Kraigg Brathwaite is a seventeen year old kid ffs, he hasn't even scored a first class 100 yet and only averages 30 in his six first class matches. If he's the West Indies next best option then I'm sorry but your've got some serious problems. Kieran Powell's much the same also, he's yet to score a first class 100 and even though he has a tremendous amount of natural talent he showed in his two ODI's that he's nowhere near good enough to be playing international cricket at this stage of his career.
He's already scored an 80 and 64 against the same Zimbabwe side who has been doing so well recently so those stats don't tell the whole story, he's a great talent and i'll tell you now he'll be a much better player than the likes of Gayle.

Powell has recently started batting at number three which i think is a good move for him, as you say he's got all the talent and now he just needs the experience IMO, he was getting a few 50's for Leewards last season and i expect him to do better next season.

The appropriate place for the kids to be gaining their experience is in First Class cricket, whether that's domestically, on A tours or in County Cricket, not in Test Cricket.

Nope according to WW, experience doesn't matter. Natural talent is all. Just thrust them in their even if they've not been tested enough.

I don't care how good the kid will be in 10 years time. Gayle's absurdly better than anyother opener the WI have currently.

Distorting my views again i see!! 8-) , also Dowlin has a world of experience and look at the state he was in the other day? experience is good yes, but it's not EVERYTHING like you and others seem to be suggesting.

SA probably have the best opening bowling pair but their first change is nowhere as good as Australia's. If only SA has a Bollinger or Hilfan or even Stuart Clark.

I think SA should identify their other two bowlers quickly. It's always Steyn and Morkel show and if they don't the wickets up front, SA would struggle. P Harris is on decline. Tsotsobe is just average.

Like the WICB CEO mentioned, I think every WI fan should simply be prepared for successive and embarrassing losses for a while. Simply tossing out all the players they have now and bringing a whole lot of new ones in a couple months time won't realistically change anything unless they are some amazing talent. WI fans should be focused on the future rather than the present losses.

As such, future talent should be nurtured and gain experience rather simply being sacrificed at the international level at a young age. I feel Gibson has this in mind IMO, especially with the creation of the academy and the continuous WI A tours. Players like lil bravo etc should have time to sharpen their game at a first class level and as a result, are ready to dominate straight away when they come onto the international stage rather spend years wandering around the wilderness. It'd be worth the losses now to have complete cricketers playing in a couple years time rather than these panicky quick fix options
I think those are excellent points....

I think Hilaire - the CEO - is right to say we have another three years of embarrasment to put up with, while Gibson builds a system with the academy and the A team tours. It makes you wonder what the hell Bennett King and John Dyson were doing!
:@
As for Lil Bravo, I would've prefered him to be in England right now, playing India A. But he's not - he's in St Kitts for the second Test, so he might as well play in that match. Batting at Warner Park should be easier than Queens Park Oval, so give him his debut now, I say....

A bit harsh to judge Lopsy and Parnell based on the few test matches they've played.
