That's why they are ranked 2nd GS, just when you think you've got them in deep trouble they find a way to repair the damage, i mean we got rid of Smith, Amla and Kallis very quickly indeed but Devilliers calmed the ship and Boucher chipped in in the end, but i think without us having Roach and Taylor it was a brilliant effort from the lads, if Gayle gets a good start then i think we're more than capable of reacing 400, if we want to win this we'll need at least a 70 to 100 lead going into their 2nd innings,

Early days but i'm happy so far, and it can only get better once Barath, Sarwan, Roach and Taylor return that's for sure.
Oh yeah of course, but this is a perfect pitch for WI considering the injuries to Taylor and Roach and the supremacy of Steyn. Regardless, a draw here would be a massive boost for the Windies considering the return of three key players (hopefully) next test. I still maintain a slower pitch like this is tailor made for Shiv and he will be the key.

What figure do you think we'll need to have a realistic chance of winning the Test? i'm confident we can do more damage with our bowling in their next innings to be honest.

I agree with your earlier suggestion that WI need a lead of about 70-100, but there just isn't enough time to score 400+, bowl SA out again and chase a total down without even considering the potential for lost time. However, presuming WI score in the 300+ range, I don't think they can lose this test which was the best outlook coming into this test.

It looks like a pitch that will offer nothing to Steyn and Morkel so not having Taylor and Roach probably doesn't matter too much, especially given how many wickets the spinners took.

Yeah for sure, that's why I said this was the ideal pitch for the Windies. Despite this, the injuries really do weaken the bowling. They came in with two bowlers making their debut. The opportunity for a win in this test was missed when SA were 5/107

TBH, this is going to be a difficult pitch to score runs on, a really typical Queens Park Oval pitch, so if the WI can match South Africa's 350, I will be very happy....

I think as long as they score over 300 the match should be safe for a draw.

Appalling decision by the TV ump to overturn Davis, the standing umpire, and give Nash out!
:@
I've looked at that replay several times, and all I can see for certain is that it's brushing his sleeve on his upper forearm. Ian Bishop and Jeff Dujon are clearly of that view too....

I have a serious problem with the way these umpires use the technology.

Well what a ****ing terrible start we've had!! :mad2: , great effort by the bowlers getting totally undone by some garbage batters, i said Dowlin wasn't good enough and certain posters had a go but the evidence was clear again today, Darren Bravo should have played like i said from the outset, Gayle is just pissing me off now, his confidence looks completely shot and his form since Australia has been shambolic at best,

I'm glad Chanders and Deo have calmed things down now, we'll need them to get us to at least 130 or so, if they do i'm sure Bravo can come in and get us over the 200 mark, Shilly can bat well but it would be nice to see Ramdin finally stand up and be counted, that's probably wishful thinking though.
