The guy is taking wickets against quality opposition, which is what he's there for, a few of the spells he's had in the past year have either won us a Test (Sabina park against England) or helped get us a draw (2nd Test in Australia) so yes i'd say he's ON FORM.Yeah, 16 wickets at 33 and the two 5fers he's picked up he's had to bowl a ton of overs and gone for over 100. I fail to see how you would consider Benn being on fire tbh, it's merely satisfactory.
When you bowl 50+ overs on this wicket, you're probably going to get a five-fer if you are half a decent spinner and you don't have to compete with some great bowlers for wickets. Duminy would've been a handful on this wicket.I'm sure Monty's "stats" could match up to Harris's too but ON CURRENT FORM that would be futile wouldn't it?
Benn= 4fer vs England- 5fer vs Australia and 5fer vs South Africa, the man is on fire!!, and if you saw Shilly play in the last two days you wouldn't compare JP to him!!, Shilly's on a different level!! .
They're almost the same bowler, both tall left armers. Harris is way more accurate and Benn gets more off the pitch. Benn becomes a problem with the pitch does nothing and Harris can always just keep a tight line. I reckon Benn is more effective on this pitch but most pitches are not this spinner friendly which makes Harris more consistent.Would take Benn over Harris to be fair, not saying his is a better bowler but watching Harris bowl makes me a little but upset.
Benn may not be exactly gracefull but he always looks like he might be good.
Hmm but considering he has hardly played outside West Indies ever, (apart from two matches in Bangladesh), I'd like to see him perform a bit more in tests before jumping into conclusions about his versatality.Yeah when Shilly was younger he had a few problems with his action but now it looks fine, he really looked impressive and i think he's a top class spinner in the making, of course conditions won't always suit him but he just looks like one of those spinners who can adapt to different pitches and still do well.
Duminy is not playing....Why JP has to come good is because of the spin he provides. He along with Harris could be a handful on this wicket.
Harris is playing...Good from the Windies spinners and terribly taxing from the SA batsmen in terms of entertainment. There seems to be a lack of dashers in the Proteas lineup. Prince, Kallis and Smith are like watching paint dry with their penchant for creating dot balls while AB has his more sedate moments. Disappointing effort against a much maligned attack. Can the Windies make them pay? If Gayle gets going they could spring a surprise though the time out of the match means it looks destined for a draw. SA's attack's been weakened with Tsotsobe replacing Parnell and they don't have a spinner, yet the Windies spinners did very well, even though SA is famed for its inability to play slow bowlers.
I thought we were talking spinners. Harris is a slow bowler who trundles up to the pitch but to call him a 'spinner' is going a bit far. Perhaps they should have played Duminy in his role and it would have bolstered the batting.Harris is playing...
That's why they are ranked 2nd GS, just when you think you've got them in deep trouble they find a way to repair the damage, i mean we got rid of Smith, Amla and Kallis very quickly indeed but Devilliers calmed the ship and Boucher chipped in in the end, but i think without us having Roach and Taylor it was a brilliant effort from the lads, if Gayle gets a good start then i think we're more than capable of reaching 400, if we want to win this we'll need at least a 70 to 100 lead going into their 2nd innings,Think WI let it slip a little. Feel SA scored maybe 50 or 100 runs too many but this is a very depleted bowling line up so can't criticise too much.
Though Gayle will be a sigifnicant factor, I think Chanders holds the key. It's his kind of wicket.
I think he bowled very well indeed, but for a shocking decision by the umpire he would have had his first test wicket, him and Roach could be a decent partnership in the next Test i believe, Rampaul didn't back him up at all.So what does everyone reckon of this lad Pascal?
Looked a more than handy swing bowler to me, and I like his action.
