*Official* South Africa in West Indies

I was also thinking Morkel deserves at least as much credit as Steyn if not more for taking out the top order. He was lucky to get Nash though, a horrible decision from Taufel to over turn it. It baffles me as to how these umpires can screw it up repeatedly.

You lot weren't complaining when you got the shockers last year against England.

Pathetic by West Indies, should they be in test cricket? At least Bangladesh fight.
Actually, I was complaining, if you care to track down my posts on the site in my signature....
As I've consistently said time and time again, the umpires are not using the technology to arrive at the RIGHT decision. They're waffling with semantics....

Well what a ****ing terrible start we've had!! :mad2: , great effort by the bowlers getting totally undone by some garbage batters, i said Dowlin wasn't good enough and certain posters had a go but the evidence was clear again today, Darren Bravo should have played like i said from the outset, Gayle is just pissing me off now, his confidence looks completely shot and his form since Australia has been shambolic at best,

I'm glad Chanders and Deo have calmed things down now, we'll need them to get us to at least 130 or so, if they do i'm sure Bravo can come in and get us over the 200 mark, Shilly can bat well but it would be nice to see Ramdin finally stand up and be counted, that's probably wishful thinking though.
Well, as it turned out, Ramdin was the only batsman who stood up to be counted, and along with Shiv and Deo, were the only ones to get into the 20s....

As I've said before, I'm not a fan of Dowlin, but with a test average like the one he has, he deserves this series at least. At least, until Barath is fit, and able to take over from him.

As you can see from the batting against India A at Leicester, there's not a lot in reserve....

Thankfully, I have athletics to follow to take my mind of the depressing situation that is West Indies cricket! At least Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Shelly-Ann Fraser, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Richard Thompson, and Kirani James are running well....

OK, so Steyn is an excellent bowler and he took 5 wickets BUT it was Morkel who did the vast majority of the damage (4 of the first 5 wickets, taking 4/9 at one stage) and yet barely rates a mention:wacko:
Agreed, best pace pair around at present by a street.

The pitch looked low and slow and the critics were convinced it was a spinners' track. I was wrong but the SA pacemen bowled very well, especially Morkel early putting pressure on the top order. He has been SA's most dangerous bowler this year.

Is there such thing as a "more dangerous" bowler than Steyn?

yes west indies are appalling flibbertyjibber.
add to that they routinely field weak teams when they argue over money letting test standard slip even further. bangladeshi players to their credit have never stooped so low as to refuse to play for their country because of money.

its so annoying to see Winides fielding buffet pace attack when you know that fully fit attack of Edwards,Taylor and Roah could be one of better test attacks.

Yeah it's probably one of the most frustrating things about West Indies Cricket. A fully fit XI would be very very competitive but they just never manage to get everyone onto the paddock at the same time.

Their team could look like this

Barath
Gayle
Sarwan
Chanderpaul
Nash
Bravo
Ramdin
Benn/Shillingford
Taylor
Edwards
Roach

Something like that anyway

Gayle looks in good shape. Wicket doesn't seem to be doing too much so windies really need a big partnership from Gayle and Shiv to at least make this loss respectable.

Looks like Mike's best mate Travis Dowlin has let him down again!! 8-), i said he was a total waste of time and people tried to mock me, i don't like to say "i told you so" but sometimes it needs to be said!!, Darren Bravo would have been much better than that clown, he's simply isn't fit to wear the great WI shirt.

Gayle and Shiv are digging in right now, if they survive the rest of the day then things might get interesting, Steyn looks like he's carrying a bit of a niggle so that might work in our favor, the rain could also come into play tomorrow too if we're lucky too.

What was the point in South Africa batting again?
Steyn injured something I reckon.

"South Africa have decided to bat. Steyn was stretching his legs for a while in his last spell. And getting some treatment outside the boundary. We don't know yet whether it was cramps of a pull or whatever .."

I think it was Smith's decision to bat...he needed some form and it was the perfect time for him to get some important batting practise!
