CBF digging them but I swear you and Prince EWS have made posts along the lines of 'bowls 85mph+, accurate and swings it'.
I thought I alluded to that. I thought he was a better prospect than he got credit for (although I never thought he was a particularly good bowler as he was), but he doesn't seem to be going anywhere. And more importantly, England now have a few good alternatives where they didn't really last year.

Have to say fair play to the Banglas; their batting (and, obvs, Tamim in particular) has made the best of a flat pitch and some (let's be frank) sub-dire bowling. Finn emerges marginally in credit, but he's about the only one who does.

Bresnan just doesn't look a test bowler to me. To try to put myself in the selectors' shoes I suppose it's his batting that makes him seem such an attractive option but, as I think I might've said before, as we're going with a 4-man attack and Swann looks at decent enough option for a #8 I think it's an unneccessary consideration. I imagine (well, hope) when Broad is deemed to be sufficiently rested Bresnan will be dismissed back to the shires.

More worrying really tho are Anderson and Swann. One imagines they're both pencilled in for the Ashes XI and, aside from when it clouded over, Anderson was effectively neutered by his lack of movement and insistence on bowling it too short & Swann didn't seem to have much of an answer to being attacked. He turned in a couple of match winning performances in 2009 when pitches helped him, but was pretty much fodder when he got no help and, by most accounts, won't be getting a lot in Oz.

Troubling signs, tbh.

Golden Arm Finn picks up another. He's pretty much carried this attack throughout the Test. Fine effort. Hopefully he'll actually manage to get on the honours board today.

Not Terrible
From what I've read it seems like Bresnan bowls like a God in the nets but just bowls too wide out on the field.

Don't think it's that he actually bowls too wide, but more that he bowls from too wide on the crease. Boycs was talking about it on TMS the other day, saying that the reason he doesn't take more 5fers is because he bowls too wide on the crease which results in him swinging the ball too much. He's supposedly capable of bowling close to the stumps in the nets and gets some very good results, but when he gets into a match situation he goes back to his habit of bowling wide of the crease.

Yeah, it's all I keep hearing. In the nets Bresnan gets close to the stumps and bowls big booming outswingers taking the edge every other ball but when it comes to the match he's tripe.

Siddique's going to hate himself for that shot. Can't be many worse feelings than getting out caught cover for 74 at Lord's.

Norwood's on Fire
Finn's figures are pretty good. I haven't been overawed with him but worth persisting with while Onions is out.

Reckon we'll win by 8 wickets FTR

Although people scoffed at it, pasag and myself both said those late wickets made the world of difference last night and I think it's ringing true
