*Official* Bangladesh in England

I'm struggling to see the logic here.

If Bresnan's supposedly one of the 3 best quicks (with Broad not around), then what good does picking someone worse than him do?
There is not a person in England outside of certain institutions that believe Bresnan is one of the 4 best quicks in the country.

Begs the question as to why the England selectors believe he is really. What on earth do they see in him? and after this Lords Test how could they possibly keep faith in him? He's faced arguably the 2 weakest sides currently playing Test cricket and yet averages over 40 with a strike rate of 79. Simply not good enough.

The selectors dont believe him to be one of the best. What they think is that he is someone they can work with and make something of due to his age (though he isnt that young) and range of talents.

TBH, I think they are mistaken but they are hoping that with him being in and around the England setup that he can progress to being a frontline bowler (he will not) or a legit #7 and 2nd line seamer (thats possible).

I dont think they are making the right choices and I have not liked what the selectors have done for a long time. I hope it will work though (it wont).

I can certainly see the logic of picking one player and sticking with them, but I lose more and more confidence in Bresnan's capacity to improve every time I see him. I think Finn's emergence is the selectors' cue to give up on Timmeh.

Although I thought Chris Tremlett's emergence was their cue to give up on Harmison, so it may not quite work out that way.

CBF digging them but I swear you and Prince EWS have made posts along the lines of 'bowls 85mph+, accurate and swings it'.

Yeah I had a fair bit of faith in the guy - haven't totally given up on him but he's been ridiculously bad in this Test so my patience is starting to wear a bit thin.

He is one of those 70's style English seamers without the 1000s of overs bowled to hone and develop his skill and professionalism.

He maybe half a yard quicker than people anticipate but he wasnt, isnt yet, and probably never will be a quality bowler

**** yeah Tamim.

Bangladesh really should get the draw here, with Shakib and Siddique still in and Rahim and Mahmudullah to come. Any talk of a win is a bit silly though.

Just hope they do not lose a couple of early wickets but I fear that they will.

Ideally, England will have to get about 250-275 or something, would set up a great finnish but not really confident of that.

Whatever happens, looking forward to tomorow, even if it looks like I will have to go on m own, get to go on the outfield at lunch as well.

So happy for young Tamim, quite easily could have had a century in both innings but for the run out in the first. WAG. Speaking of guys that are good, Siddique is becoming a very valuable number 3.

Congrats to Kayes for finally doing something and producing his maiden half century! I would love to see a draw.

Not Terrible
Yeah Siddique has had a gun year. Showed signs early in his career that he could hold a bat at this level. Not as talented as Tamim but could be a Test batsman yet. Tamim, Shakib, Rahim and Mahmudallah joined by Siddique and potentially another batsman or two could see Bangladesh's batting reach its supremacy. Bowling has signs but not much more, really need a seamer to stand up and stay good for more than a year at a time.

Those last two wickets changed the whole match. If they could have held on it would have been an easy draw, now England should win pretty easily.

Are the wickets of Ashraful and Shahadat that significant to change the result from an easy draw to a pretty easy win for England? I don't see it.

The expected productivity of Shahadat and Ashraful combined with the bat per Innings is like 10 runs anyway.

Look at it from England's pov, starting the day needing to take seven wickets in a session and a half max, would have been pretty down especially given wickets have been hard to come by without assistance. Now they only need five, becomes very doable.

Xuhaib

International Coach
Aside from Finn, who looks a very good talent but bowled as a young man generally does, England's bowlers stank when the conditions suited the batsmen

Jimmy is a talented but brainless bowler whose days should be numbered, Bresnan is gash and Swann reacted very badly to getting hammered

Great day for Bangas and any major team playing Eng in the coming months
unfortunatley that is Pakistan which I reckon is even worse then BD atm.

Watched him play in the second test against Bangladesh (IIRC) when I was holidaying in SL a couple of months ago, and he is absolute turd on two legs. Couldnt figure out what all the fuss supposedly was about. He may have a big heart and all that, but it really isnt enough at test level not without at least some of the required weapons. Havent seen him in ODI cricket but he is supposedly alright in that format, or so I hear - he should stick to that, IMO.

Oh and yeah, Tamim!

Really doubt that the Bangladeshis will hang on for a draw. It is just second nature for them to get into promising situations and then lose their head.

Yes,5 bowlers.I may sound like a stuck record but we don't have 4 good enough to only pick 4.Australia could do it for so long as they had McGrath and Warne,Gillespie was a bit useful too.Fortunately for us none of their current lot are fit to lace their boots like ours aren't.
I also want to see a 5th bowler, possibly Rashid. But, I don't think Flower has any plans of doing that.
