*Official* Bangladesh in England

Feel proud to be Tamim fan. Such talent! And a Lords hundred to cherish!

However fact that even Kayes managed a good half century doesn't paint exactly a demon-ridden pitch. Or English bowling has been ridiculously flat.

Anyway would love if they declare and set Eng a target however token it may be. But given their propensity to fall in heaps, I have my fingers crossed.

Like that.
What do we think are the chances of an England win here?

Edit : Just realised Mahmudullah could be at 9

The Tigers needs to win one more session and they'll have the draw. There's still Rahim and Mahmudullah to come.

Kayes played really well tbf. There's absolutely zero chance of Bangladesh bowling England out to win the game on this pitch fwiw.

We should be backing ourselves to knock over Bangladesh here and then chase anything up to 5 per over without breaking sweat.

This is a big signal to England that there could be a good deal left to do in working out how to bowl sides out on flat pitches.

Yes.

Yes,5 bowlers.I may sound like a stuck record but we don't have 4 good enough to only pick 4.Australia could do it for so long as they had McGrath and Warne,Gillespie was a bit useful too.Fortunately for us none of their current lot are fit to lace their boots like ours aren't.

Who do you pick as a 5th bowler though? I have no confidence in Bresnan as a number 7 bat, and I'm not convinced his bowling is good enough either. Broad's not good enough to bat 7, and Swann's not consistent enough. Who do we go for? Could potentially pick Rashid, as he is probably good enough to bat 7, but is his bowling good enough? He has 21 wickets at 35 this year, and 288 runs at 41, but is tha good enough? Another possibility is Shahzad, but I've not been impressed with his bowling from the little I've seen, so I'm not sure he's good enough, but it might be worth giving him a go at Old Trafford. I'm not convinced with Luke Wright as a Test player either, so really, there aren't too many options. It's all well and good in theory, but if picking a 5th bowler doesn't improve the bowling that much, and then negatively impacts the batting, then it's pretty pointless isn't it? We really could do with a class all-rounder to come through.

Broad has to come back for Old Trafford too. Need to bin Bresnan ASAP. He's taken 2 wickets in the Test, and they've been Rubel and Shahadat. He clearly isn't Test class.

You don't have confidence in Bresnan at 7 but Bresnan, Swann and Broad are all more than capable number 8s really. When you're going to have one of those at 9 it weights out that you'll have one at 7 really. Not that I think Bresnan is the man for the job.
The only issue I'd have would be if it was 7. Broad 8.Swann and then 3 bowlers. That would leave us light on batting.

The last couple of wickets have left me sleeping easy tonight, I think, but big props to Bangas for fighting back here, really can't fault them. Great for cricket overall.

That being said I hope we polish them off in the morning and chase it down comfortably. Jimmeh bowled some good ones at the end of the day but his control was still off. Agree with KP, ditch this plan to rest Broad next week and get him in for Bresnan.

Could bat Swann 7, Broad 8 and Shahzad 9. Shahzad's not any weaker a batsman than Bresnan really, and he can't do much worse with the ball. Or we could bring the star bowler in the Lions game, Ravi Bopara  He's possibly good enough to bat 8.

Missed all todays play but really pleased, going to go up to Lords tomorow morning, only £10.

Nah, no higher than 10

For me 5 bowlers is a no go unless you have a world class allrounder which we obviouly do not. Have to pick the 4 best bowlers and back them to do the job, it is the fact that they are not doing the job rather than the balance of the side that worries me. Ok you can get away with 5 bowlers against Bangladesh but not against Australia, Prior is not a test number 6 anyway, certainly on recent form. Would just weaken the battting and would it really make all that much difference to the bowling? I have my doubts.

Aside from Finn, who looks a very good talent but bowled as a young man generally does, England's bowlers stank when the conditions suited the batsmen

Jimmy is a talented but brainless bowler whose days should be numbered, Bresnan is gash and Swann reacted very badly to getting hammered

Great day for Bangas and any major team playing Eng in the coming months

I'm struggling to see the logic here.

If Bresnan's supposedly one of the 3 best quicks (with Broad not around), then what good does picking someone worse than him do?

I think he is saying that Eng need more bowlers as they dont have 4 of sufficient quality to bowl decent sides out twice

Records support him as there have only been 2 teams in test history to win consistently with 4 bowlers and they had far better attacks than Eng's
