Hmmm Bopara hardly making a case for selection 5 of 43 balls.

He was obviously just outclassed by a wonderfull international bowler.

Jungle Jumbo

International Vice-Captain
Bopara makes 5 in 53 minutes before being cleared up by Darren Powell, can't think of a worse possible day to have.

King Pietersen

International Captain
Cracking effort from Leicestershire with the bat. 71 all out with Taylor the only batsman to make it to double figures, with 34*. He's not had the best start to the season, but he's definitley the most promising young batsman in England AFAIC.

Sussex way behind and only the rain can save us now.

In other news, Robin Martin-Jenkins has announced that he is to retire with effect from 19th July to take up a teaching position at Hurstpierpoint College. This has been well known amongst Sussex fans for some time but the news is now official.

Another 50 from Lyth, now make it a ton and get the other 150 runs to pass 1000 before the end of May against the scum starting at the weekend.

Woodster

International Captain
Essex now have a lead of 335, with Pettini coming in and looking to get some quick runs. Declaration cannot be too far off.

Declaration has come for Essex, should be an interesting day's play at OT from here on, providing these increasingly threatening clouds pass over without any offloading of rain.

Was looking like an intruiging day would develop at Derby in their game with Gloucester, with the home side needing 301 to win today (5/0 overnight). However, Kirby and Lewis have taken two quicks wickets apiece (including the prize scalp of Rogers), to leave Derby reeling and facing defeat at 25/4.

Got play now but Yorkshire making no effort whatsoever to up the run rate,
Is it a surprise after gifting a win to the opposition last week?

Might as well plod on and let Lyth get another ton and closer to the 1000 run mark for the season then declare late in the afternoon to let Rashid and Pyrah rattle through a few overs to get us back level with the rate.

Obviously they are going to be carefull after last week an understandably so but given how Hampshire have managed to lose spectacularly on the last day on a number of occasions this season I would be wanting to give myself a chance.

Lyth out for 98.Damn he is frustrating, could and perhaps should have had at least 5 tons this season but only has 2.Still having a great season but should finish the job off instead of getting out before getting his ton.
