I know he took the Rand, which will count against him but I just can't dislike him. Used to love watching Gooch bat and his cheeky slow-swing bowling was enjoyable too. Supposedly has the highest rated innings of all time (vs. West Indies @ Headingley?) and I remember watching transfixed as he scored 333 against India. And also watching transfixed as he got out yet again to Terry Alderman.
