James Taylor in the runs again. Currently 55*

If he gets a few early tons, surely he must be in the reckoning for the summer tests?
Decent chance of bypassing Trott who looked awful at the fag-end of the Republic tour and in Bangladesh but Bell, Colly and KP have pretty much got the middle order slots locked and I think the selectors will probably want a 5 man attack for the Ashes.

The idea of Prior at 6 and Bresnan at 7 in the ashes fills me with dread.

Anyway Danny Briggs

James Harris of Glamorgan has made another good start, and he's still a month short of his 20th birthday. Anyone on CW actually seen the lad bowl?
I recall seeing him bowl a few times in either OD or U19 competition on TV. Got a sort of othodox 'windmill' action from close to the stumps and gets a hint of away swing at around 80mph.

Yeah, bit of a trundler unfortunately but still hope considering how young he is.

Think Prior, Swann and then Broad is more likely. Bresnan playing fills me with dread full stop. Hopefully Finn and some other quicks can push on.

Need a wicket soon or this will turn into a pretty crappy first day.
Danny get it, what a man.

Not sure what it says about the rest of the attack when your 18 year old spinner is taking most of your wickets on the first day of the season.

Hardly surprising when he plays at a turd county like Glamorgan. Terrible pitch. Crap ground. Mediocre past it players. Probably lost the will to live by the time he's halfway through his run-up.

What do you make of the Sussex batting performance Z? Promising signs in that several players made starts but jeez, would it hurt for one of them to go on with it?

Pretty disappointing start to the season, it has to be said. They were saying on BBC Radio Sussex that they thought 350 would be par on this pitch. Still we have 2 bonus points in the bag, so it could be worse

RMJ and Collymore doing a decent job of adding some late runs. Could be important, not the most frightenting Sussex attack I've ever seen.

Bit of a 'nearly' day for the English qualified players today.

Taylor, Godleman and James Foster just falling short of three figures and Finn and Harris getting 4-fers but not a Michelle. (Though there is still time.)
