To anyone with half a brain it'd be the way to go, but our selectors have proven time and time again that logical selections aren't their strong suit. I mean who's clever idea was it to bring Cook into the ODi side as captain? He's an ok OD player, but there is no way he should be opening the innings ahead of Trott, Kieswetter, Davies or Lumb just to name a few. They should have given the captaincy to Collingwood or Pietersen if Strauss couldn't be arsed to turn up in Bangladesh. They didn't though, and it's looking likely that we'll see:Think Trott's going to be a victim of the old English selectors' fallacy that ropey form in one format means ropey form in every format.
No disrespect to yer Banglas, but a one day thrash against them isn't such a stiff ask as a test series versus Steyn, Morkel et al. Kieswetter as a straight swap for Prior would be they way to go, surely?
Kieswetter specialist opener, Prior specialist No 3, who the hell is going to have the gloves for the first ODI?Ashraful dropped for Bangladesh.
Interesting that Prior's playing as a specialist number 3.
Think Raqibul should still be given a run personally. So hopefully...
1 Tamim Iqbal
2 Imrul Kayes
3 Junaid Siddique
4 Mushfiqur Rahim
5 Shakib Al Hasan
6 Mahmudullah
7 Naeem Islam
8 Suhrawadi Shuvo
9 Mashrafe Mortaza
10 Shafiul Islam/Rubel Hossain
11 Abdur Razzak
Junaid the lesser of the two evils, the other being Aftab. Five spinners likely to play.
Shocking and embarrassing. I can't believe he said that. What a complete idiot. Completely unacceptable and he ought to be disciplined for it.No tour thread yet, and this may have been mentioned on here before, but how bad is this comment by Paul Collingwood:
"It won't be easy to find a golf course in Bangladesh; if there is one, they'll probably have wooden clubs."
Borderline disgraceful.
Pretty old news but really its a joke and a pretty funny one so who cares. People who know about the country have made insulting comments and jokes that are way worse and not untrue of the reality of the country. He is only a sports guy. They should have the right to make jokes much like the rest of us. All this politically correct BS makes me sick.Shocking and embarrassing. I can't believe he said that. What a complete idiot. Completely unacceptable and he ought to be disciplined for it.
Oh agreed entirely, he's not in the squad though.Think Raqibul should still be given a run personally.

His batting's completely gone to pieces. The days when he'd compile a stylish twenty and get himself out seem like a golden age compared to the way he's batting now. I've never seen him look so tentative at the crease. He's been seeing the ball really late and his already slightly shoddy footwork's been getting worse by the innings.I'm actually surprised that Ashraful has been dropped from the ODI side. I expected it for the Test Team, but thought he'd still be a semi okay option in ODIs at least in the sub continent.
Trott's performance in the second T20 might have something to do with it, rightly or wrongly. If you're sucking at tests and sucking at T20s it's likely you'll also suck at ODIs.Think Trott's going to be a victim of the old English selectors' fallacy that ropey form in one format means ropey form in every format.

Collingwood shouldn't worry about wooden clubs,he will get what he wants. No tour thread yet, and this may have been mentioned on here before, but how bad is this comment by Paul Collingwood:

I agree with you completely. His self confidence is into negative, that's why he is so tentative at the crease.Unfortunate, that with all his natural talent,he can't put them to good use often. His batting's completely gone to pieces. Whow's that unprofessional?Well I have to say it strikes me as pretty unprofessional that Ashraful's requested his own omission from the squad, and not a bit pathetic that he's done so because he's in the midst of a form slump, but I hope the break does him good.
Yeah you would think he would settle down in Bangladesh Domestic Cricket. Instead he got out for a 5 ball duck run out in a first class match. So typical of Ashraful.Whow's that unprofessional?
He's in a form slump, and his confidence is shot to pieces.
It benefits both Ashraful and Bangladesh if he goes back to domestic cricket and scores runs with the aim of getting into the World T20 squad and the squad to tour England.
