TBH, I'd have withdrawn if muppets were disallowed. They act as checks for those who place ridiculously low bids (obviously would have worked a lot better if everyone sent in their bids on time consistently), and keep their bids honest. There's no point if there's no disincentive for placing a $1 bid every round.
The point isn't to make a decent side, the point is to make the comparatively best side.....you can have all decent players and yet still have the worst side.

Pretty pleased with Hendren, I know I don't have the best team going around but its pretty capable and I've got some pretty unrated players.

Thrilled to get Grace. Its used up almost all of my budget but for $1million to get (based on the CW top 50) the third ranked cricketer of all time, I'm delighted - also handy to go with the second ranked player (Sobers) already in my side.

I'd also be interested in any feedback about the draft, obviously it's a new concept and has had a few teething problems - personally the presence of muppets in the draft has been a shame, but as I didn't specify any rules then I can't really complain!
I think its been a great format with a definite strategical element, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the process. I actually think the nominating of weak players works as a tactic and I'm not overly adverse to it because it means those drafters who use all their budget up early run the risk of purchasing a player with a standard much lower than the rest of their side - for the record I've only nominated players who I'd be happy with in my side though. I think its a shame some members have withdrawn as in my view the draft would work much better had we had a full compliment of teams at the end, rather than the reduction we'll now find ourselves with.

Ahem, if you have Lohmann, how come his name is up as a nomination for this round?

Well I assumed he'd be in my side after this post for the round five players:
As I was late (and I'm in a generous mood) I'm going to allow slowfinger's email (although if he has real problems he may benefit from getting in a co-manager.

As it is, 2 people (flyonthewall and Michael7777777) didn't submit and have to pay the penalty ($1,800,002 in this case)

The following have been drafted:

N Adcock - NUFAN
C Croft - pskov
K Dev - Simon
M Ealham - flyonthewall (default pick)
J Garner - Blakus
L Gibbs - silentstriker
J Gregory - Michael7777777 (default pick)
W Hall - Himannv
M Holding - honestbharani
B Ironmonger - Marcuss
G Lohmann - Somerset
C McDermott - Noble One
M Ntini - Nnanden
B O'Reilly - Pothas
C Turner - Eds
F Tyson - G.I.Joe
C Vaas - slowfinger

10. Craig McDermott

Very pleased to be picking up quality players this late in the draft. My team may lack the likes of a Bradman or Hadlee, but it has nine without a doubt brilliant Test cricketers.

As someone who did submit one dummy nomation (Kapali), I have no problems with allowing these sort of players. My reasoning is to keep some variety in the draft. Having taken part in 4 or 5 drafts now, I have lost the enjoyment of comparing one all-star bowling lineup versus another all-star bowling lineup. I prefer to debate at the end of the draft is Hadlee, Marshall, Lillee and Kapali a better bowling lineup than say McDermott, Gough, Fraser and Underwood.

Everyone finds different ways to enjoy these drafts.

I don't really like how players from teams that withdraw are back into the game. Part of the fun is seeing new names added to the list and the fact that greats are left means that the people who have the most money now are going to get them.

Not really a problem with regards to the bowling. There's a tremendous amount of quality players who haven't been nominated. Fred Trueman and Alan Donald to name a couple.
So for money laden folk like me, we still get the greats of the game:p

Nah, the point is to make it challenging instead of an assured pass every round. Without muppets, it'd be communist heaven.
