Haha,
I never rated Voges, Marsh, Hopes and North when they picked yet everyone (including you) was on the bandwagon telling how good they were and look at the now.
It doesn't matter where Hopes, Marsh or Voges bat, they will be doomed to fail. I'm not criticising them based on today's performance, I'm criticising the fact that the Australian selectors have gone for mediocre mid level journeymen over either more talented players or players with more potential.
Judging D. Hussey by his trot against SA is a bit short sighted. During that time everyone including guys like Clarke, Ponting, Hussey and most of the bowlers were out of form or outplayed by the South Africans. You can see when he plays, he's got lots of ability and he's not one of those ticklers, he can turn a game and go long, something that's need in this team since the Symonds departure. Even his domestic record is sparkling, miles and miles ahead of any of the peeps mentioned above.
And with Warner, so what if he's averaging 24? He's shown something in the T20s and he can't be worse than Marsh, or Voges either in the long term or short term. Marsh has had enough time to prove himself and with no domestic record to fall back on he needs to go back and get some decent innings before he plays for Australia again.
Well then, let's take a "look at the now".
I've never rated or even liked Hopes. I think he's capable of doing a job, occasionally, but that's it.
Marsh is averaging 38 in ODI Cricket, and Pasag and myself have even said maybe that's not good enough.
Voges is also averaging 38 and has only had 7 innings at this level. His OD average of 41 after 91 matches seems to suggest he has some promise, no? I like how he plays, and think he warrants selection, but I have no idea which way he'll go.
I believed North was the right man for South Africa, and he was. But I also said if he doesn't shine during the home summer, he should be out. I reckon there's a good case for either side, but personally I wouldn't mind someone more consistent at 6.
So what are you on about?
You contradict yourself something huge inbox. You'll rate or hate players blindly, ignore all the times you're wrong and then spam the forums when you're onto something. It's atrocious, and one of the reasons many people find your posting style unreadable.
We all know you like David Hussey. And he could still be something at an International level. But you'll randomly dis Voges over him because you see something in him, despite the fact that Voges is younger, has a better List A Average and has made more of his ODI opportunities. So when you say
his domestic record is sparkling, miles and miles ahead of any of the peeps mentioned above, it is simply a lie.
And again, there's nothing wrong in seeing something in players and wanting them to do well, which is what a lot of people have done in Warner. And some do with Marsh. Despite both not having huge success in Domestic Cricket, there's obviously potential for both. So why, if Warner can't make runs in List A Games, is it such a crime for Marsh to open the batting in ODIs, because of the potential seen in him? It is a contradictory argument you make, and it baffles me.
There's no problems in supporting players, and enjoying it when they succeed, and sharing it on the forum. But you need to stop acting like you're the rebel of CW.
